The Tower is in control – Although the enhanced ride does not officially premiere until New Year's Eve, MousePad members are already talking about the new ride sequences added to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney-MGM Studios. During "soft opening" tests this week, guests experienced the new show control system, which can change the pattern of lifts and drops each ride. In addition to a random pattern of drops, the ride now sports added visual, audio and olfactory special effects.
New character meal starts January 5 at the Grand Floridian Hotel's 1900 Park Fair restaurant – Cinderella's Gala Feast will feature Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, stepmother Lady Tremain, stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, as well as Cinderella's mice friends, Gus, Jaq, Suzy and Perla. Priority Seating reservations are now available.
Typhoon Lagoon is closed for refurbishment, and reopens December 29, 2002.

Disney-MGM Studios: The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights – through January 5, 2003. The Studios' Residential Street is decorated with 5 million twinkling Christmas lights. Included in park admission. [Read the details of the 2001 event, with photos, by Sheila Hagen.]
Pleasure Island: Pleasure Island New Year's Eve – December 31. Featuring B-52s, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and Chris Botti. $79 per person, ages 21 and over only.
Disney’s Winter Dream Maker package can be booked now through December 23, 2002 for travel January 2 to February 13, 2003. The packages include resort accommodations, theme park tickets, souvenir pins, and additional perks.
