Disneyland hosted this wonderful Beatles band at the Tomorrowland Terrace Summer 1999, and hopefully they will be returning in the future. I took a few photos, and some short MPEG files of them at work, so you can get an idea of what they are like and how much fun they are to go see. The shows have been a big hit, pulling in large crowds, and that's all due to how well they duplicate the Beatles sound. The stage patter and costuming are carefully done and they are respectful, but this isn't a museum show. They have a blast, and the audience responds in kind. It's a class act all the way. Be sure to see them in concert if they are in the park on your next visit. And for sure don't miss doing the conga line thing during Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da.
The first show [above] covers all the early hits - Love Me Do, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Helpetc.
The second show [above] covers the Sgt. Pepper era, with favorites such as Yellow Submarine, With A Little Help From My Friends and Penny Lane.
The third show [above] wraps up the musical history of the group with songs from the White Album, Abbey Road and Let it Be, including Something and Hey Jude. There is also a rather wonderful rendition during this set of Lennon's Imagine that is quite a crowd pleaser. Below are some close-up photos I took of the band members during the third set.
Their website has upcoming tour dates listed, so you can probably catch them somewhere else in the L.A. or Las Vegas areas if you don't see them at Disneyland. I have to say it's such a pleasure to see these guys after some of the acts we've had at the Terrace the last few years. Kudos to the park for bringing them in.
