Finally!
All the teams gathered together to find out who won
By 3:00 it was all over, and the scoring began in earnest. Two frantic
hours later, we had determined the winners of both categories (Scavenger
Hunt-only and Combined with Trivia) and were ready to announce their identity.
Too bad the nearby Parade of the Stars was too loud to allow for a punctual
beginning to the awards! And a few short minutes later the next choir
or band was scheduled to begin at the Plaza Gardens Stage, so we hurried
through the thank-you's and moved on to the actual awards:
Kevin thanks everyone for attending And here are the winners!

Such happy people, can you stand it?
Before the winning teams chose their prizes, there was a drawing for
several out- of- print Disney books (mostly about Walt Disney World).
This was only open to individuals who were not part of a winning team,
as a way to spread the wealth a little bit. We thank our friends (you
know who you are) who suggested this idea.
Some of the many prizes the winners could choose from (above and below) including the brand new Disneyland and California Adventure park albums, Disneyland Paris CDs, collector's pins, Mouse Tales books and signed artwork. Some of the out of print books (below, along with MousePlanet baseball caps not pictured) given in the raffle for all the teams who didn't place in the top six The winning teams then got their crack at the prize table, stocked with unique items, promotional giveaways, or collector's editions. There were such things as a California Screamin' model roller coaster, DCA official albums, DCA opening day posters, Disneyland CDs, pins sets, several signed books by MousePlanet author David Koenig, and even a few of the more expensive Walt's Time and Brush with Disney art books.
It was an event to remember for both returning teams and new teams alike.
Several had gone to the trouble of dressing up for the event - such as
coordinated shirts, or bizarre headgear - and this proved advantageous
for them, as teams had to find each other in the crowded park. Many pledged
to be at our next event, currently planned for October.
The MousePlanet MouseAdventure team (left to right) Al Lutz, Andrew & Jennifer Rich, Adrienne Krock, Alex Stroup, Lani Teshima, Adrienne & (seated) Tony Phoenix, Kevin Yee & Michelle Saito, (kneeling in front of Al and the Riches) Kevin & Matthew Krock From our perspective, the competition was memorable for its smooth operation. And for that I can take none of the credit: it all belongs to our hard-working staffers, who spent several hours in the sun registering teams, handing out packets, and grading the results. Absolutely crucial to our success were the event organizers Alex Stroup and Lani Teshima, who dedicated long hours to editing the packets and thinking up EVERY possible detail in the planning stages, to keep us all on schedule and on-budget. We joked in the pre-event staff meeting that Alex probably had a meteor-strike contingency plan, so thorough was he, and I'm still not convinced that he didn't really have one.
Watch for the second part of our MouseAdventure update tomorrow, when
we upload all the photos of the participating teams (plus their complete
scoring / ranking), just in case you are curious to know what you've missed
out on.
If you did miss this event, be sure to join us for the next one. And even if you've done it before, you probably know that we rotate through the types of puzzles to keep things constantly fresh. Sure, the afternoon's activities may wear you out, but it's a *happy* tiredness you experience by the end. Not to mention it's a whole new way to experience Disneyland. It's fun. Ask anyone!
