To help budget our trips, we pay for as much in advance as we can, rooms, tickets ect.
I had already paid for our rooms in advance but on check in was told there would be an extra fee to cover the room phones (which we didn't need) and it was NOT optional. I insisted on speaking to a manager and the desk clerk only commented that she was the only person I could deal with until that afternoon. I had to get my wife and her cousins checked in so I could hit the road to my brother's wedding. I wanted to demand my money back and go elsewhere (We had spent the previous night at the Paradise Inn, and would have headed back there.), the wife insisted on paying the phone fees. (@$20 for 2 rooms / 3 nights)
After I returned, we had breakfast at their 'buffett'. It wasn't too bad as buffetts go, but the line makes you go past the cashier each time and we weren't sure if you had to pay each time through. For the same money, we could hit the Ponderosa accross the street and be assured of how they are run.
The rooms were pretty good and had a nice view of the pool.
