We stayed in a Standard room - plenty of space for family of 3 (me, DH, DD - age 11) with balcony. Nothing spectacular about the view - Palm Parkway and local restaurants, but it was very quiet - no road noises! Also easy to pull in, slightly more challenging to pull out onto Palm Pkwy due to traffic. Parking was a little more challenging, not a lot of spaces in front and the "back door" closed every night at 11 p.m., so we frequently had to cross the lawn to get to the front door. Rate was great for holiday - $ 87./ night, except for January 1st - $ 75. I got this via Expedia, so it was prepaid when I reserved. As is more common nowadays, there was a "note" from housekeeping indicating that unless requested otherwise, towels would be changed daily but linens would only be changed every 3 days. The 2 beds were clean and we figured that wouldn't be an issue. After all, they were made up every day. However, the vacuuming was sporadic - on the first afternoon, we found a Game Boy Advance charger cord plugged in under the desk (that we returned to the front desk) and on the last morning, I found a pistachio shell next to the bed that would have been there since the previous guest since none of us eats them. The hotel is pleasingly close to Downtown Disney - one light past Hotel Plaza Boulevard. This meant that we could 'shortcut' through there every day instead of using some of the longer and more crowded access routes (I-4). This came in very handy for early morning and late night driving. We ate breakfast as a family on the first morning and the buffet was sparse and expensive ($ 8.95 each) so from then on we ate elsewhere (McDonalds is a minute away). Hubby ate breakfast and lunch in hotel on New Year's day and said it was OK. The biggest disappointment was the pool - I selected this hotel because it advertised a heated pool and it definitely wasn't heated. There was a hot tub, but that doesn't count as a pool to a northener like me. I stuck my toes in the pool and ran away -- way too cold! Daughter stuck it out for about half an hour only because she liked the waterfall slide. Given the close proximity to Disney and the good rate for Christmas week, I would consider this place again. It's not really big, and if you are not looking for a lot of extra services, it's just fine.
