Oh, the irony of a Northern California couple traveling all the way to Florida to stay in a Northern California-themed resort and dine at a restaurant serving Pacific Northwest cuisine and West Coast wines.
It's a good place to splurge on your first evening. That's what we did, toasting the arrival in WDW that had been planned for five years earlier. The selection of California wines is good even by California standards, and the food choices run from the expected to the slightly adventurous. Tables around us were ordering the maple-smoked salmon like it was being taken off the menu, but we can have that at home anytime, so we looked for more exotic options. I ended up with a mixed grill that included both buffalo and venison, which are not common on menus in Cali.
Service was friendly, but a little lacking and the kitchen seemed a little slow. It would bother me more at home than it does on vacation. It just gave us more time to sit together and chat about the adventures we were beginning.
If you're not from the Pacific Northwest, this place will give you a good idea of what it's like to dine and imbibe in California, Oregon, and Washington. Expect to linger at a leisurely pace.
