No sooner had we started running photos from the 50th Anniversary kickoff events at Disneyland than we started getting requests for desktopsized photos. We had planned to wait until around July 17 to offer any, but there's no reason we can provide two batches, one now and another in July. MousePlanet Photo ContestDo you have a 50th Anniversaryrelated or historic photo of Disneyland you'd like to show off and share with our readers as a desktop? Then send them in! All the photos we receive will be reviewed by MousePlanet staff, including our staff photographer Frank Anzalone, and we'll publish those we like best along with more staff photos in July. To submit photos, you can do one of two things, you can either email them to alex@mouseplanet.com or upload them to your own Web space and email the URLs. All photos must be in a 4:3 aspect ratio and at least 1024 pixels wide. If you're going to email the photos themselves, please limit file size to 500KB. Finally, these are artistic photos, not journalistic, so feel free to spruce up the photos if you'd like. However, if you make substantive changes we wouldn't mind getting a description with your submission. Please include your full name and city of residence as well. Now, on to today's Desktops! First pick a favorite photo from the ones offered below, then match one of the two screen resolutions offered underneath each photo to the settings your monitor uses and click on it. A new page will then open with instructions to get it onto your desktop. [Mac users please see the side bar for instructions.]
|
The instructions on each page work with Windows computers running most browsers. Mac users: Choose the resolution size you want, then follow these steps: 1. Click and hold the mouse button on the picture until a menu appears. 2. Select "Save as " to save the picture to your hard disk. 3. Open the "Appearance" control panel, and select the Desktop tab. 4. Click on the "Place picture" button. 5. Browse to the location where you saved the image. Open it up, then choose the "Set desktop" button. A lovely new photo background appears. Special thanks to reader David R. who provided the instructions. Photos here were taken by Frank Anzalone. They may not be used for any other purpose than as complimentary desktop wallpaper for your personal computer.
