Downtown Disney

Opened in 2000 as part of the Disney's California Adventure resort expansion, Downtown Disney is essentially an outdoor mall. Unlike the most of the stores at the parks and hotels, Downtown Disney's shops and restaurants are mostly independently operated.

General Information - Hide Section

  • Hours: Hours vary depending on location so see the information booth for current details. All locations open by 10 a.m. and should stay open until at least 9 p.m. Breakfast locations will begin opening by 7 p.m. and certain locations may be open beyon midnight.
  • Parking: Downtown Disney has its own parking lot. Parking is free for the first three hours. An additional two hours free is available with validation from the AMC Theater or one of Downtown Disney's table service restaurants. After the free period, the parking fee is $2 every 20 minutes, up to $30. Valet parking is available for $6 in addition to the parking fee due.
Rides and Attractions - Hide Section
  • Downtown Disney does not have any rides or attractions at this time.
Entertainment and Shows - Hide Section
  • AMC Theatres — 12-screen multiplex showing current releases. While most new Disney releases do play here, it should not be assumed that they all will.
  • ESPN Sports Zone Arena — The second floor of ESPN Zone is a treasure trove of sports simulation arcade games.
  • Flambeaux Jazz Club — The stage at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen sees live jazz most evenings.
  • House of Blues Stage — Big names hit the stage at House of Blues so keep an eye on their upcoming performers (link).
  • Other Entertainment — Throughout the walkways of Downtown Disney, particularly on weekends, you'll find a variety of live musical performances.
Dining - Hide Section
  • Catal — Fine Mediterranean dining.
  • Compass Books Cafe — Grab a coffe or a light snack while browsing books or reading a magazine.
  • ESPN Zone — Sports-themed dining with two dining rooms: a more restrained dining room with plenty of televisions or a more active sports bar with a heck of a lot of televisions.
  • Häagen-Dazs — Häagen-Dazs ice cream and related desserts.
  • House of Blues — Southern cooking with a musical background.
  • Jamba Juice — Fruit smoothies as well as some soups and light snacks.
  • La Brea Bakery — Fancy soups, salads, and sandwiches.
  • Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria — Italian food and pizzas from the Naples region of Italy.
  • Napolini — Counter service Italian dishes and pizzas.
  • Rainforest Cafe — Just about anything you could want, in an extensively themed environment.
  • Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen — Try the famous dishes of New Orleans.
  • Tortilla Jo's — A variety of Mexican dishes served in three different environments.
  • Uva Bar — A full outdoor bar with some very interesting dining options.
  • Wetzel's Pretzels — A variety of warm pretzels and dipping sauces.
  • Other Dining — While walking through Downtown Disney you'll come across cards offering various snacks such as kettlecorn, or pastries and muffins from La Brea Bakery.
Stores and Shopping - Hide Section
  • Anne Geddes — The flagship store of the famous baby-clothes designer.
  • Basin — Designer soaps and other bathing accessories.
  • Build-A-Bear Workshop — Design and stuff your own teddy bear.
  • Club Libby Lu — Bring your young daughter her to be pampered and get a makeover.
  • Compass Books — A small bookstore (with a large newstand). They carry many Disney books you won't find in the park stores.
  • Department 56 — Unusual and unique housewares and decorations.
  • Disney's Vault 28 — High-end Disney clothing. Opens October 2006.
  • Fossil — Watches and accessories.
  • Hoypoloi — Unique art objects, especially focused on glasswork.
  • Illuminations — Designer hand-crafted candles and accessories.
  • Island Charters — Tropical island apparel and souvenirs.
  • The LEGO Imagination Center — Just about anything you could want from LEGO. Consider walking through just to take in some of the large LEGO sculptures.
  • Marceline's Confectionery — A Disney-run candy store. Strawberries and marshmallows are hand-dipped on site and other items are available.
  • QuikSilver — Beach-appropriate active wear from QuikSilver, Billabong, and other labels.
  • Sephora — A make-up megastore with just about anything you could want, including makeovers.
  • Something Silver — Handmade silver artworks.
  • Starabilias — Hollywood collectibles from props to autographed movie posters.
  • World of Disney — The largest Disney store west of Walt Disney World has just about every imaginable Disney item available.
  • Other Shopping — The walkways of Downtown Disney are lined with carts selling all kinds of attitional merchandise and novelties.
