Main Street, U.S.A.

Main Street is the transition between the real world and that fantasy world of Disneyland, and it is a soft transition. Set as the main street of a midwest American town around 1900, it has all the civic insitutions you'd expect of any small town with aspirations for something bigger. City Hall greets you on the left and the Opera House on the right. Stores line the street with a small cinema on one side and penny arcade on the other.

  • Location: The entrance to the park, extending down to the area in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Provides direct access to Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.

Rides and Attractions - Hide Section
  • Disneyland Railroad — Experience on of Walt Disney's favorite things while circumnavigating the park on one of these classic trains.
  • The Walt Disney Story featuring "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" — Learn about Walt Disney's life, and then have President Abraham Lincoln tell you about the Civil War. Replaced by The First 50 Magical Years but still, officially, to return at some point.
  • The First 50 Magical Years — See the history of Disneyland and then get more detail from Steve Martin and Donald Duck.
  • Fire Engine — Ride Main Street in this authentic turn-of-the-century fire engine.
  • Horse-Drawn Streetcar — Use this old-fashioned form of public transportation to get from one end of Main Street to the other.
  • Horseless Carriage — Travel Main Street in style with a chauffered trip along Main Street.
  • Omnibus — A slightly more modern means of conveyance along Main Street.
Entertainment and Shows - Hide Section
  • Main Street Cinema — Escape the heat (or rain) and watch a selection of early Mickey Mouse animated shorts.
  • Parade of Dreams — A massive parade celebrating the classics of Disney animation.
  • Remember…Dreams Come True — A fireworks spectacular that uses additional effects to create a truly unique show.
  • Other Entertainment: Every morning, a rededication of Disneyland is held on the steps of Main Street Station. The short ceremony includes Disney characters, the Mayor of Main Street and audio of Walt Disney's original dedication speech.
Dining - Hide Section
  • Blue Ribbon Bakery — Grab a sandwich, pastry, or coffee to carry out into the park.
  • Carnation Café — One of two publicly available table service restaurants at Disneyland, and the only one serving breakfast.
  • Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor — A selection of flavors for a cone, a sundae, or milkshakes.
  • Main Street Cone Shop — Ice cream cones and very large ice cream sandwiches.
  • Plaza Inn — Some of the heftiest portions in the park, with a decent range of selection for a cafeteria service restaurant.
  • Refreshment Corner — Grab a hot dog and Coke and listen to ragtime.
  • Other Options — Outdoor vending is clustered in to location at either end of Main Street. You can get popcorn as you enter the park, and a wide variety of carts are available at the Sleeping Beauty Castle end of Main Street.
Stores and Shopping - Hide Section
  • Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen — A wide variety of candies and other sweets, some of which are made on site in the Candy Kitchen, within view of park guests.
  • China Closet — Collectible china products as well as many snowglobes
  • Crystal Arts — Handmade crystal products with custom monogramming and engraving available.
  • Disneyana — Collectibles of all types but particularly animation cels and artwork. Disney Dollars are also available for purchase from here.
  • Disney Clothiers, Ltd. — Disneyland-themed sportswear and household items.
  • Disney Showcase — Disneyland clothing and tradable pins.
  • Emporium — The biggest store in Disneyland has just about any general Disneyland-related merchandise. Subsections for toys, plush dolls, small souvenirs, and clothing. Check out the interior second-floor "offices" which help set the stage.
  • The Mad Hatter — Hats of all types from the straightforward to the completely silly.
  • Main Street Magic Shop — Watch the staff perform basic magic tricks and purchase from a wide range of supplies, educational materials, and videos.
  • Main Street Photo Supply Co. — Specialty candies and fudge.
  • Market House — Disney-themed dry food goods and household items. A coffee counter sells drinks and snacks.
  • New Century Jewelry — Antique and character-themed jewelry.
  • New Century Timepieces — A wide variety of Disney watches and clocks. Custom artisan watches are available and limited edition timepieces regularly cycle through.
  • Newsstand — Small souvenirs, and your last opportunity to make a purchase as you exit the park.
  • Penny Arcade — Filled with functional antique penny arcade machines, cheap candies and saltwater taffy are available here.
  • Silhouette Studio — Have a custom silhouette made and framed.
  • 20th Century Music Company — Disney CDs and videos.
