Accommodations Review:

We did not request a specific room location, but were given a nice high room with a great view of the parks and Downtown Disney. The room itself was very small, by comparison to other rooms at DLH and offsite hotels. Bathroom was tiny, and no light over the tub/shower; dim light outside the tub. Only one sink. Hairdryer provided. Magnifying mirror. Soap, shampoo/conditioner, mouthwash, toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton balls, shower cap provided. King size bed took up most of the room, and was too high off the ground. It sat in a kind of enclosed platform bed frame that scraped against my legs as I slid off the bed (it was either that or "hop" off - and I'm not that short). TV armoire was off to the side instead of straight ahead because our bed faced toward the window. Made it very crowded inside the room, with the stroller and porta-crib all inside. Also had a mini-fridge which came in handy. We were right next to the soda machine and ice machine but did not hear much noise. Room is also across from the elevators which was handy.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

We wanted to stay at the Grand Californian but there were no reservations available there under packages, cash, or DVC points, so we opted for DLH which we have stayed at before and had good experiences with.

Room # and Location Description:

2767, last room facing Downtown Disney & parks, on the 9th floor in the Sierra tower. King size bed, very small room.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

Location was great for the view. Also the elevators nearby were handy. I'm not sure if it's because our room was on the end of the hotel, but it was much smaller than other DLH rooms we've stayed in.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

We arrived at 10 am and the room was not ready yet. We were told to come back after 3 and we came back at 3:30 only to be told the room was still not ready yet. I made a whiney comment about not wanting to wait in yet another line, so the cast member switched us to an available room. (It doesn't hurt to whine a little.) Check out was "express" via voice mail.

WDW Transportation Comments:

We found that we hardly used the monorail at all. We spent most of our time walking through Downtown Disney to the theme park entrances. (I think that's how they planned it!)

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We did not eat at any restaurants this time around, but be warned that a bottle of soda runs $2.50 now in both the vending machines and the snack bars.

Pool Description / Comments:

The pool was heated but seemed very cold to me. It was around 70 degrees outside, so it probably wasn't warm enough to be swimming, though many were. The redesigned pool is very nice. Jacuzzi/spa was wonderful.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

This is a really nice resort with many amenities. I would probably stick with one of the rooms that has 2 queen size beds because they are probably larger than the king rooms (and I've probably been spoiled by the rooms at WDW).

Other Comments:

My one major complaint is about housekeeping. We did not need any service so we hung the privacy tag on the door and relaxed inside. I hooked the slider/bolt thing on top too, because our son will open the door & escape if we don't. We heard a knock at the door and ignored it, knowing it was housekeeping, then heard the door beep and they tried to come in, getting stopped by the upper lock. That was annoying because they purposely ignored our request for privacy and if they had woken me up from a nap, or worse, woken my son up, I would have been really peeved... but then we left for the park a half hour later, and came back in the evening to find the privacy tag missing and our room made up. The disregard for our wishes for privacy is unacceptable and I will be sending in a complaint to the hotel management. I'm generally not that picky or demanding, but if I ask for someone to stay out of my room, I expect that request to be honored.
