Accommodations Review:

We found the hotel to rank right up there with some better hotels we've stayed in. Our rooms were well appointed and comfortable. I'm not sure I understand what all the fuss is about the beds being higher. My kids and disabled father in law were quite capable of getting on and off the bed. The decorating was indeed "Disneyish," and yet I felt it was not overdone. I got a kick out of certain touches --- like the Mickey hands holding the bathroom sconces. In our 2 bedroom suite (a one bedroom suite with adjoining room) we had the following: 2 separate bedrooms, a sitting room, 4 queen sized beds, 1 pull out couch, 2 1/2 baths, 3 TV's, 2 refrigerators (not honor fridges), and a wet bar. It suited our needs (family of 5 plus 2 inlaws) very well.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

We had never been to any Disney location and I was determined to get the full experience! I was also drawn to the ease of getting to and from the parks (either via monorail or by walking) and the early entry feature.

Room # and Location Description:

We had rooms 2020 and 2024, 9th floor, Marina tower.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

We were not far from the elevators, but we never experienced any noise associated with them. Sadly we did not have a view of anything other than the pool, but that's ok -- we weren't there all that much.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

We hoped to be able to check in early as we arrived early. The computer showed that one of our rooms was not yet ready. We checked again in about an hour after eating. The computer still showed the same thing, but we were allowed to check in with the understanding that 1.) one room may not yet be done, or 2.) it was done, but not updated on the computer. Luckily for us it was indeed ready to go. Checkout was speedy - no waiting in lines. No fuss, no muss.

WDW Transportation Comments:

We really had no trouble with the monorail when we chose to use it, though it's too bad the trains aren't (can't be?) longer or don't run more often. Walking to and from the parks was very simple.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We grabbed a bite to eat at one of the poolside places (name escapes me) before we checked in, and that was not the best start to our stay. Things (hotdogs and burgers) were pricey and service was pretty lousy. (Picture about 7 people lined up, one register working. It was very slooooooooooooow.) The only other place we ate was in Goofy's Kitchen for a character breakfast. We were somewhat disappointed we had to wait, despite having reservations (placed weeks in advance), but the wait was not long. The food was abundant and not bad as far as brunches go. We were very impressed with the number of characters present and their willingness to stay for pictures, a chat, or goofing around. It was nice to deal with them table side, rather than with a crowd around.

Pool Description / Comments:

The pool was adequate, though the slides were a disappointment. The "little kid" slide was basically horizontal, so there was no real sliding motion to be had. Unfortunately, my non-swimmer (5 year old) could not use the larger slide because parents were not allowed to catch the kids as they came down. But you know kids, they can have fun in a puddle, so they were not too perturbed.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

I would say GO FOR IT! I think I would have pressed further when making reservations to try to get a different view, if there is one to be had. I think I'd also consider upgrading to the concierge level.

Other Comments:

My husband was reluctant to spend the kind of money one generally has to spend for a Disney vacation. I was stubborn about staying in the resort, so we bargained down one night's stay so I could get my wish. He reflected on our final day that in hindsight he felt it was a very good decision (very convenient and you get what you pay for). I felt that was pretty high praise!
