Accommodations Review:

The Disneyland Hotel remodel is beautiful. The grounds are fantastic and you feel so welcome and comfortable from the minute you arrive. They work very hard to keep you happy! The hotel has good rooms, a good location, and a very hard-working staff.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

We wanted to be close to the park with the convenience of returning to the room for breaks. We also wanted the fun of the onsite experience.

Room # and Location Description:

#2949 - 11th floor of the Sierra Tower, facing Downtown Disney, next door to the Concierge Lounge.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

The room was large enough for our needs (two s, one child.) There were two queen beds, and a day-bed that was slightly smaller than twin-size. There was a large TV armoire that has four drawers for putting away clothing and other items. There is also a door which hides a small refrigerator (no freezer section) and has a top shelf for storing food items and utensils, etc. The bathroom had one large mirror and two sinks. There were plenty of towels. The toilet is in a room separate from the vanity and bath area. There is a hair dryer and iron/ironing board provided. As others have mentioned, the beds are quite high off the ground, but we found this really convenient. It's a great spot for storing your luggage to keep the room uncluttered. This room also had a desk/chair near the window, and an end table with a chair that made a small grouping (with the day-bed) by the window. Even though our room faced DD and was next to the Lounge, it was very, very quiet unless we opened the sliding windows. It was fun to open the windows and see/hear the fireworks and the activity in Downtown Disney. I had heard that waits for elevators were long, but never found this to be the case. There is a concierge elevator that goes express to the 11th floor, but it's located inside the lounge, so you might not discover it until after your first visit to the lounge.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

We arrived at 3 p.m. and they didn't have the room we had requested, but they made the changes we needed and it worked out great! Check In for Concierge is in a special area on the far end of the lobby, and check out is express.

WDW Transportation Comments:

The DD Monorail Station is packed and the rumors of Fastpass for hotel guests are greatly exaggerated. (The Monorail staff hadn't heard of it.) We walked in and out of the parks virtually every time, which probably was a good thing in light of how much we ate on this trip!

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We had dinner at Granville's one night. The service is extremely attentive, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We've been spoiled by some very nice meals, and this was very good (generous portions!) but not superior. Very passable by hotel restaurant standards, though.

Pool Description / Comments:

The pool is a terrific amenity. But, it was June and VERY crowded. Easy to lose a child in the crowd. There are pool towels and flotation vests for kids. The main pool has a lifeguard, but the smaller pools don't.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

You will do quite a bit of walking if you stay at the DLH, so be prepared to do that, if you want to eat meals, do laundry, swim, shop....just about anything.

Other Comments:

I had heard some negative comments about Concierge services before going. But, we did not experience a single negative thing! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. There is not a bit of the sense that you are taking too much of their time or their food! They don't prepare extravagant meals in the Concierge Lounge, but what they provide is really tasty (yummy pineapple slices for breakfast!) and plentiful, and they allow you to collect what you need and take back to your family in the room. They offered to provide paper sacks for carrying food out, and they suggested using the ice-bucket tray to carry things. The other fantastic thing about this lounge is that it has a terrific view. We were in the room right next door, so we did have a great fireworks view anyway, but it's a great spot for watching fireworks, if you choose a room with a pool view. The housekeeping staff does a great job, and the toiletries everyone loves are really crummy but packaged so cute, they're irresistible!
