Accommodations Review:

We liked the hotel room and found the concierge service to be great. We asked for a one king room and a crib with a resort view and got exactly what we expected. While the Concierge service is expensive - we liked being able to get breakfast and snacks for our 3 year old daughter as well as ask questions about the parks or restaurants.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

We wanted to be on property for afternoon nap purposes. My daughter takes a two to three hour nap in the afternoon - and we could walk her back - get her settled, and one of us could walk back to the park or downtown Disney for adult rides or shopping. We also had heard that this hotel was more Disney themed and child friendly than the other two hotels.

Room # and Location Description:

Room 2753, 9th floor, resort view - downtown Disney and paradise pier.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

The room was right next to the service elevator (which my husband noted right away) but we did not hear it at all. It also should be noted (to my husband's disappointment) that Resort View does not mean you can see Disneyland - the view of this park is obscured due to trees - I am sure for the benefit of locals who don't want to see it all the time. You can see Downtown Disney and the Paradise Pier portion of California Adventure, which is nicely lit at night.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

Since it was off season and less than two weeks after Sept. 11, no one was waiting for check-in and it went very smoothly. We arrived at 12:45 pm and our room was ready - which was great because after lunch it was nap time. We used express check-out and had not problems

DLR Transportation Comments:

We walked about half the time and rode the monorail sometimes (we walked when the monorail closed before we left the park) There was no real line whenever we used it.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We ate at Goofy's kitchen on the first night - which was great for my daughter - she woke up from her nap late and we just made the parade. After which she needed to eat and the park was almost closed - so we went back to the hotel and Goofy's kitchen and she got to meet several characters, Goofy, Belle, Chip (or was it Dale?) Snow White, etc. This was a great way for her to meet the characters for the first time, since she turned three at the end of the trip, I thought she might be scared, but since the restaurant was not too crowded the characters spent time with her and after that we spent most of our time at Disneyland looking for characters. My husband and I both thought the food was surprisingly good for a buffet. There were several choices, I had chicken fajitas which were great and sampled several salads, the tomato salad was very good. The children's food was fairly typical, Mickey nuggets, hot dogs, pizza, etc. My daughter liked the deserts best of course. We ate there again Saturday morning for breakfast (my daughter's b-day, they will do a special treat bag, balloon's and candle in a cup cake for $5 more - definitely worth it - make reservations) It was a little more crowded for breakfast but was still a lot of fun for my daughter - who asked - tomorrow again? when we left.

Pool Description / Comments:

My daughter loved!!!!!!! the small water slide - I think it rated up there with characters and it's a small world. The water was warm enough for me and the pool was not too crowded since it was off season.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

It definitely is not the inexpensive choice but both my husband and I agree that you have to do it once. If you are not going to be in the room much, a regular room is probably good enough and a little less than what we paid. I did really like being so close to everything and having a nice walk (I like to window shop). However, my daughter liked Disneyland so much my husband is already talking about going back, so next time we will likely stay off-property but hopefully within walking distance. The light/water show was fun for my daughter and while I am more of a skip the pool and go to the park person - my daughter loved the water slide and it would have been a shame for her to miss it. Once she outgrows naps - we definitely will do off property and maybe stay an extra night or two and do more.
