Accommodations Review:

The rooms are smaller than I thought. I loved being able to sit on the balcony and people watch over Downtown Disney.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

Closeness to park.

Room # and Location Description:

Room number 4447 had a view of Downtown Disney. I could even see the train station at Disneyland.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

The closest room to the elevator was 4400 so do the math on the walk from the elevator. The small elevator lobby was a long walk from the entrance to Downtown Disney. The private entrance to DCA was much closer.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

Check-in and out was a breeze. Very quick and easy.

DLR Transportation Comments:

Didn't use since the only monorail station was at the other end of Downtown Disney.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We had breakfast at the Storyteller's Cafe. It was the character breakfast with Chip and Dale. There were several options including a buffet. We had the buffet and it was very good but very expensive. Not quite worth the expense unless you have a magic morning breakfast.

Pool Description / Comments:

We didn't get a chance to go to the pool because it closed at 9:00pm and we were still at the parks at this time. It would have been nice if the Jacuzzis had stayed open later.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

Definitely ask for a room closer to the elevator. Even though we had a great view, the hike was hard especially at night when everyone is tired.

Other Comments:

I hate to say this but this resort did not meet my expectations. I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge at WDW and it was much nicer and much cheaper than the Grand Californian. Even though this hotel is closer to the park the walk from the Disneyland hotel to the monorail station is closer than the walk from our room to Disneyland. One thing that was nice about the Grand Californian is that we had our beds turned down nightly and they left little chocolates by our bed. The atmosphere is nice but it's not quite worth the price. Everybody should stay here at least once for a short visit or if you get a really good deal on the room.
