Overview
The newest of the Disneyland resorts is Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel
(formerly the Disneyland Pacific Hotel) now dressed as the backdrop for the Paradise Pier area of the new California
Adventure theme park being built next door. The hotel, like it's bigger next door neighbor, was built by another party and
was bought by the Walt Disney Company in the mid-1990's. Again, the resort
isn't themed, but it has been recently remodeled and is a nice hotel, but
without the amenities and atmosphere of the Disneyland Hotel.
Food and Drink
The Hotel has a couple of restaurants to choose from. The PCH Grill (PCH
stands for "Pacific Coast Highway") has a widely varying menu that
includes seafood, steak, wood-fired pizza, and Asian dishes (and is the
location of a character breakfast). Yamabuki is a Japanese restaurant
that serves tempura, sushi, and other Japanese dishes. The Tea Room is
the location where the Victorian-style "Practically Perfectly Tea"
is served up by Mary Poppins herself (make sure you have reservations for this
popular event).
Concierge Service
Lani Tashima wrote a fantastic column about the resort's concierge
service. If you're thinking about upgrading, check this out! Feel
like Royalty on Your Next Disneyland Visit.
Activities
The Hotel's recreational activities include a huge children center, pool,
exercise room, and more.
Disney Transportation
Travel to Disneyland Park is via tram or monorail. In either case you
have to hoof it to some extent because. The Monorail is located in front of the Disneyland
Hotel, about two city blocks away and the tram loading area is behind the
Paradise Pier
Hotel about a city block from the Hotel's rear entrance.
Actually, that's not as bad as it sounds because the Paradise Pier Hotel is
closer to the transportation than many of the Disneyland Hotel's furthest
rooms.
