Parade of the Stars
Parade of the Stars is an improved version of the short-lived 45th
Anniversary Parade. It has some good things, namely many well-known characters
are included do a great job of projecting friendliness. My
three-year-old son, Allan, loved the parade and we watched it three different
times, so I suppose that makes him an expert. The last night we watched
the parade, from a nice spot across from the Emporium on Main Street, Snow
White winked at Allan and he grinned for a mile. He also enjoyed waving
to all of the other characters.
The main drawback to the parade has been repaired. The former music
track (a repetitive version of Pomp & Circumstance) was boring and not Disneyish at all.
The new soundtrack, although slow, is reported to be a vast improvement.
Unfortunately, the parade still employs a large number of guests.
This was an idea that really worked well at WDW for the 25th Anniversary, but
which is getting old now. For my money, I'd much rather see costumed
characters that my son (and I) will recognize and enjoy versus a bunch of
middle-aged men in tutus prancing about the parade route like keystone cops in
drag. I'm sure that the people that are invited to be IN the parade have
an experience they'll not soon forget. For the rest of us, it's one we'd
like to forget as soon as we can.
