My wife and I bought into the Disney Vacation Club in the Fall of 1994. We went down to Walt Disney World intending to have a brief four-night stay at the Polynesian Resort, then a cruise, followed by another week at the Wilderness Lodge. As it turned out, we visited the Vacation Club just to check it out (a $50 dinner certificate that was in our room at the Polynesian, contingent on our touring the DVC, was the initial incentive)...and ended up buying into it. We changed our trip plans on the fly and ended up staying at the Polynesian for only two nights because we "moved" over to the Vacation Club. We didn't go to Wilderness Lodge after the cruise either...instead, we moved back to the Vacation Club. In 1996, Barb and I added to our original points purchase to give us greater flexibility.
