Is the Vacation Club Purchase Deeded and Tax Deductible?

A DVC purchase is deeded. You receive a deed for a part ownership in the lease of one of the buildings in your home resort. You may or may not ever actually stay in the building for which your points are deeded. Actually, that doesn't matter. The point is that you have a partial ownership of the resort lease itself.

The tax deductibility of your purchase is based on the same IRS rules as any other timeshare purchase. The interest MAY be deductible if you meet certain conditions. It would be prudent to check with your tax specialist to verify that your purchase qualifies before the IRS audits your return...and decides against you.

By the way, the Disney Vacation Club will not outright tell you that the interest on your purchase is tax deductible. All of the literature I've read uses the same word I did..."MAY."
