Interval  International

Interval International is an international time share swapping organization. If desired, members can exchange a week's stay at their home resort for a week's stay at one of the many timeshare resorts supported by Intervals International.

Likewise, if you are a timeshare owner at another timeshare resort, you can bank a week's stay at your resort into Intervals International and request a trade to one of the DVC resorts. The percentage of DVC owners that actually spend their vacation time at their home resort (as opposed to trading out to other resorts) is very high compared to many timeshares, so I understand that it is quite difficult to trade in, but it has been done.

Disney does charge a fee (in addition to all trade fees) of approximately $100 per week to people who trade into OKWR and BVR resort. The fee covers the WDW transportation (which is available to everyone that stays at the WDW DVC resorts) and concierge services. Even if you don't plan to use the transportation or concierge service, you must pay in advance or the trade will not be allowed.

The ease of trading OUT of your DVC home resort is completely dependent on the interest that is generated by your resort in the Intervals International directory.  Since you really are requesting a "trade," someone else has to agree to take a week at your home resort in exchange for a week at their timeshare. Generally, most trades occur within four to six months of the date.  I've only attempted to do a trade once, but cancelled the request nine months or so out for personal reasons...so I don't know if I would have been successful had I been able to be more patient and wait it out.

Hot Tip:  Interval International has a site that DVC members might like to look over!
