Accommodations Review: |
We had a room with two queen sized beds and a sofa (that
pulled out into a bed). This is an ideal setup for our family
as some of us still like to 'rest' in the afternoon. The sofa
provided a place for the non-resters to read, do crafts, or
watch television. Our room was on the third floor toward the
center of the complex, just around the corner from the
elevator (which we always used because we have a baby in a
stroller). The room was equipped with a refrigerator and a
microwave which is very handy when you have children and like
to have snack food and cold drinks available at all times.
There was a space next to the armoire that we were able to set
up a portable crib (we brought our own, but you can request
one). The crib was out of everyone's way, which was nice. The
room was spacious enough that we never were 'on top of each
other'. The room also had a desk that was used primarily to
dump our hats, bags, and goodies. It had a nice shower/bathtub
combo that was separate from the vanity sink. There was a
coffee maker in the room and I think my husband made use of
that a couple of times. |

Restaurant/Lounge Review: |
Mom's Restaurant was next door. Complimentary Continental
Breakfast on the second floor was part of our package and we
tried it once. It was okay. Toast, bagels, rolls with a few
spreads. Cornflakes, and another 'healthy' cereal was offered.
Bananas and Apples were offered as the 'fruit'. They had two
different pastries (snail type things) that were decent.
Unfortunately, we have a couple of very picky children who
wouldn't eat any of the things offered, so we only tried the
Breakfast there one morning. We ate downstairs at the restaurant
one evening and it was average. Two from our group
tried the buffet and they were pleased. I believe I had shrimp
and it was pretty good for the type of restaurant it was
(nothing fancy). There was a Tony Roma's several buildings
away (towards Katella) and we tried it for lunch, it was very
good. For those of you with little ones or in need of fast
food there is a McDonald's within walking distance towards
Ball (several $$$ cheaper than what you can get within DCA).
We ate there almost every afternoon (groan). One of our
favorite places to eat is a restaurant called Tiffy's that is
located on Katella & Disneyland Drive. We end up eating
there a couple of times each trip. Fabulous corn bread, broad
menu! |

Pool Description/Comments: |
Smallish pool, kept very neat, shady. Roomy spa, under a
covering that would be nice in those winter months I'm
thinking (it'll be good for when I'm there in December). |

We've stayed at all three of the Disney Properties in the
past year. This trip we were trying to go on the company per
diem (obviously couldn't be done at Disney Property). I was
very pleased with the room size, we spend more time in the
room than most I know because we have small children and they
need to rest during the afternoon. I didn't see a difference,
at all, in the distance from our hotel room to the park
entrance. Didn't seem any farther than it did when we stayed
at the Grand. One thing that was a definite plus for me was
that I didn't have to fold up the stroller and lug all my junk
to get on the tram or monorail. We just walked. Another plus
was that it was close to several restaurants, those mentioned
above and I remember an IHOP two doors down. We were very
happy with the overall experience and will be visiting the
hotel again the first week in December (2001). Only drawback
(though not a huge one) is that they seemed to want to clean
our room right at nap time. We would get back from the park
around 1 or 2 and the room wouldn't be done. They service the
room up until 4, which is when the kids would wake up. We hit
a couple of snags there, but nothing major. I'll be sure to
get those kinks out during the next
trip. |
