Accommodations Review: |
The room had two queen beds and room for a rollaway bed.
It was an average sized room. The bathroom sink is outside the
bath area (single sink). The hotel hallways are outside, and
the room window faces the hallway, which meant we krpt the
curtains drawn most of the time. The room could have used
better lighting. The TV was smallish but newer. There is an
outdoor glass walled elevator, a nice touch! The room was
fairly clean but didn't look brand new. |

Restaurant/Lounge Review: |
The lounge is a tiny little bar with a couple of TV's. Not
bad, considering this is a more of a motel than hotel. The
lounge area is very small and noisy, not too intimate. The
restaurant is the Poppy Cafe. The menu resembles an upscale
Denny's (think Marie Callendars). The portions are generous,
and the food was pretty good. Kids eat free. We ate all of our
breakfasts and lunches here. The one dinner we had at the Blue
Bayou was almost as expensive as all of the breakfasts and
lunches. The service is very prompt! Which is good if you are
trying to catch the shuttle. The staff was very courteous and
attentive. Their earned their tips! |

Pool Description/Comments: |
Nicely landscaped. This hotel is right next to the
freeway, and the pool area is very noisy because of this. The
pool is always open (it can't get noisier than the freeway!).
Because of the noise, its not a great place to relax at the
end of the day with a glass of wine or a beer. |
Other Comments: |
Even though this hotel is close to the freeway its rooms
are quiet. We got the room as part of a package with United
Air Vacations. Its more than a motel (room service, lounge,
etc.), so if these features are important for you then this is
a good place. Its a little far for a walk to DL (but not out
of the question). If all you want is a motel then I might
suggest one of the "across the street" motels
instead. |
