Accommodations Review: |
We stayed at Hawthorne Suites just for one night on an
impromptu trip to Disneyland last year. The suites are narrow
but long. You get 2 queen-sized beds and a fold-out bed in the
"living room" couch at the end of the suite. The living room
of this suite can be separated from the rest of the room by a
sliding door. There are two televisions in the room. Most of
the furniture looks new and stylish but is actually finished
using veneers (convincing enough). I can't recall if we had a
refrigerator but a coffee maker was provided. |

Restaurant/Lounge Review: |
They offer a continental breakfast in a mini-cafeteria.
You can eat in the cafeteria or take your trays back to your
room. As I recall, a complimentary newspaper (USA Today) was
delivered on the morning of our stay. Service and clean-up was
prompt. |

Pool Description/Comments: |
We didn't use the pool but it wasn't sizeable (to be fair,
the Disneyland Hotel was the only place we stayed at that had
a REAL pool). It was adjacent to the parking garage and
covered. It gets a bit noisy since the walls echo all
sounds. |

Hawthorne Suites can be reached online at
www.hawthorn.com. We stumbled on this place accidentally while
trying to find a room at a cheap walk-in rate. Although the
room felt just a little cramped because of the narrowness of
the suite, it was still very comfortable and clean with
nicely-decorated rooms and new-looking furnishings. There are
two drawbacks to this hotel. The first is that it is farther
from the park than the Candy Cane Inn (so the shuttle is
recommended). The second is that to one side of the hotel is
an old warehouse and it's an eyesore. If you can live with
those issues, then these suites are a nice choice. I've seen
them offer discount coupons in the Exit Guide
(www.roomsaver.com) so you can probably get in at a very good
price. |
