Accommodations Review:
|
The "standard" is a two room suite, which
houses 2 queen size beds and pull out sleeper sofa in the 'living
area'. The hotel is set on 40 beautifully landscaped acres,
and is a really impressive sight, especially at night with the
lighted waterfall and pink facade.
I thought the facilities were extremely well kept...we upgraded
to a King Suite upon arrival, which included a king sized bed and Jacuzzi
tub. The location was convenient to Disney as well as I-Drive, and
many other local attractions. Included with the price of the
room is a complimentary breakfast buffet, and free shuttle to all
the Disney Parks.
My husband and 6-year old son especially enjoyed the
breakfast.....we stayed at the Embassy Suites the year before, and
to be honest, their "cooked to order" breakfast and
Mickey Mouse pancakes were more my speed than a sometimes lukewarm
buffet, but that's just my personal opinion.
The suite itself was very spacious and clean (which is most
important to me!!) They have a great pool with waterfalls and a
water slide for the kids - it was hard to get my son out of the
pool even to go to the parks!! |
Rate/Night (for your stay):
|
Room rates have been advertised on the Hotel
reservations network for $120/night, but I was told there was a
convention in town the latter part of May and they could not honor
that rate. The rack rate is $199, but don't pay it. Check for
deals on the travel sites on the Web. |
# of Restaurants/Lounges:
|
The Caribe has room service, 3 restaurants and two
bars. Also there is a poolside bar serving delicious frozen
cocktails - you are able to charge anything you
"consume" to your room key, to be paid at checkout. This
was a big convenience, since most bathing suits don't have
pockets! |
Restaurant/Lounge Review:
|
Last year they were running a great promotion - we
got $180 in "Caribbean Cash" upon check-in. This
"money" could be used for room service, restaurant
meals, purchases at the gift shop....basically anything on hotel
property. Unfortunately, they're not running the special this
year...if they were, we'd sure go back! Although the restaurants
didn't see us, room service sure did!! The food was really
good....we had everything from pb&j sandwiches to lobster
tail...and no complaints whatsoever. |
Activities/Facilities Available:
|
There is an on-site gym as well as a game room. |
Pool Description/Comments:
|
There are Jacuzzis out by the main pool, as well as
a children's pool with interactive toys. |
Amenities Provided:
|
Additional amenities include 2 cable TV's, climate
control, an in-room safe, wet bar, kitchenette, refrigerator,
microwave and coffeemaker. The hotel does have wheelchair access. |
Other Comments:
|
For a family traveling with children, as we have
almost every year, the value of a "suite" hotel can't be
beat! Mom and Dad can have some privacy after the kids go to bed,
and there's room for everyone to spread out and relax when the
Disney thing gets to be overwhelming.
We'll be staying at the Buena Vista Suites this year (for the
first time)...and I'll be happy to report on our stay when we
return. It sounded like quite a deal....we got a king suite with
whirlpool for $112 a night......Can't beat that!! |
