Ease of WDW Park Access:

We had a car, and the resort was very close to
Disneyworld. We did not have a problem with the driving distance -
it was almost like staying at All Star Sports (i.e. a bit further
out than the main Disney resorts but close enough).
I would not recommend the shuttle. It only picked up once in
the morning and returned in the evening, thus severely
limiting your options if you have to leave the parks during the
day. |

We got it as part of a package - I believe cash
customers pay around $50/night. |

Restaurant/Lounge Review:
|
There was a buffet for breakfast which was adequate.
The food was OK and kids under 12 got to eat for free. The
restaurant was severely understaffed, though, with one waitress
running the whole restaurant (waiting on tables, doing the cash
register, etc).
For dinner the restaurant had a very limited menu - only pizza.
It looked like they might have an expanded menu in the future,
however. |
Activities/Facilities Available:
|
Pool, small store with Disney and other souvenirs,
and another small store with some food items. The souvenir store
did have souvenirs cheaper than what Disney had to offer -but not
everything was "name brand" Disney. |
Pool Description/Comments:
|
They have a pool - my wife and boys swam there and
said it was ok. My wife liked the kiddy pool for the boys. |
Amenities Provided:
|
There are laundry facilities, an in-room safe, cable
TV, and a complimentary theme park shuttle that doesn't run very
often. |

The Ramada Inn Resort Main Gate is an older hotel
that's ok for a cheap night or two stay, but we wouldn't stay
there again for a week long vacation. The air conditioning in our
room leaked all week, and requests to have it fixed were ignored.
Finally, on the last night, the air conditioning stopped working
all together and we were switched to another room.
Positives: Very close to Walt Disney World and easy to find on
highway 192, good room rate, bug free and clean. Nice lobby area -
after going in the lobby you expect nicer rooms but the rooms are
very ordinary.
Negatives: Older motel that shows its age, air conditioning
problems, understaffed restaurant.
Summary: Next time we'll spend more and stay on site or at a
nicer offsite motel. We probably wouldn't stay here again - the
motel seems below the other Ramadas I have seen as far as quality
is concerned. |
