Accommodations Review: |
This property started out as a nondescript motel but has
been substantially renovated, upgraded and extensively themed
as a "safari" resort. This hotel now has jungle decor,
wonderful tropical landscaping, African music playing in the
lobby, and even the trashcans are themed! We reserved a
standard hotel room but were able to upgrade (on a
complimentary basis) to a junior suite upon arrival. The
junior suite includes a good sized living room area with sofa
bed, arm chair, table and chairs, small refrigerator,
microwave, sink, coffeemaker, and cabinets with a small
assortment of plates, cups and silverware. The bathroom is
enormous for a hotel, with a large tub and toilet room
separate from the vanity area, both of which can be closed off
from the living room and the adjoining bedroom. The bedroom
was also fairly large with sliding glass doors opening onto a
balcony which looks out over the landscaped courtyard and pool
area. If noise bothers you, I'd advise requesting one of the
rooms on the upper floors away from the pool area because the
courtyard does get fairly noisy in the evenings. |

Restaurant/Lounge Review: |
We got room service our first night. The food was good
although pricey. They guarantee delivery within 30 minutes or
your food is free. Another example of the themeing at this
hotel--the butter delivered with our dinner rolls had been
stamped into the shape of an elephant's head. We also ate
breakfast in the restaurant one morning; it was a fairly
typical all you can eat American breakfast buffet. There is
also a small deli where you can pick up coffee, pastries,
sandwiches and the like. |

Pool Description/Comments: |
The pool is large with a nifty slide in the shape of a
snake. My daughter loved it. There is also a hot tub and a
kiddy pool with a frog spraying water into it. You can rent
themed pool floats (alligators, turtles, etc.) as well
purchase goggles, sun block, etc. right at the pool area. |
Other Comments: |
We believed this property to be an excellent value and
we'd definitely stay here again. The themeing is delightful and
the location is wonderful: right near to the entrance to
Disney's "hotel row." There are numerous restaurants nearby
(Romano's Macaroni Grill is just across the street), the
Crossroads Shopping center, with a Goodings supermarket, is
next door, and access to I-4 is about 2 blocks
away. |
