We made reservations just after
lunch for a 7pm table. This is about 1 hour before the park
closes and makes for a quieter meal. |
Time of Wait: |
Seated immediately, table for 2 in
a Non-Smoking area. The restaurant was very quiet at this
time. |
Food Review: |
The Sequoia Lodge Hunters Grill has
an interesting menu, it is a fixed menu with variations. There
is the usual menu, a version for vegetarians who will eat fish
and a totally vegetarian menu. All are priced pretty much the
same. We had the non vegetarian menu, which consists of 3
courses. The first course is a salad of green mixed leaves
with a poached egg topped with pieces of sliced chicken
livers. This was very good, the dressing was a little sharp,
but the salad was very fresh and interesting. The main course
is probably the most interesting, you get a selection of
various cooked meats, etc, served by a waiter who brings the
food round on long skewers. It includes :- Chicken Leg, Spicy
Sausage, Rump Steak, Pork, and a slice of cooked pineapple.
All this is served with a nice individual portion of Potatoes
and a piece of Corn on the Cob. It is a lot to eat, but all
very tasty. For dessert you do have 3 choices, we selected the
Vanilla Ice Cream with Brownie Pieces and Whipped Cream, what
can I say but delicious. |
Service Review: |
The service was excellent, vary
quick but not rushed. We spent 2 hours at our table, the last
45 minutes was mostly talking and the staff were very happy to
let us stay there, no pressure to leave. |
Atmosphere Review: |
This is a large restaurant, and to
be honest is does not have as much 'atmosphere' as some others
at the resort. Ask for a table around the edge of the main
room as this will give you a bit more privacy and a more
interesting view of the paintings, etc. |

A very different meal, highly
recommended. |
