Winter 2000 WDW Trip Reports

Lindy Higham - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: ASSR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
  • Comments:  Lindy has provided several trip reports over the years, and this is a classic.  It's a detailed play-by-play of her trip with her sister.  This is a great report, with a great summary (if you'd rather just read through that).

Joe Sandor - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: PO
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Children (ages not specified), Adult, Senior
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent, Rookie
  • Comments:  This trip was a LARGE family reunion visit.  In fact, this is the largest group trip I've read about it quite some time, so the narrative has a very unique twist to it.  If you're planning a large group trip, this would be a valuable report to read.  It's a summary style report, with plenty of detail.

Dave Bucholtz - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane
  • Resort: PO
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments:  Dave's narrative describes a week-long trip that he took in late February and early March.  This is a play-by-play style report, but at a relatively high level (so it's not too detailed).

Joe Obrin - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: PO
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments:  For Joe and his family, this was (and I quote) "the millennium trip. At least for us. We didn't make it down to WDW on New Year's Eve. The crowds, the Y2K glitches that never happened, a lot of reasons entered into it. But, I'd decided that this would be the trip when we would celebrate the millennium. Heck, Disney was selling it, and I was buying. The millennium celebration was lasting all year, right?"  This is a fun play-by-play report that I know you'll enjoy.

Kathy Jared - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: ASSR, Plaza Hotel, Offsite
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments:  Kathy, and husband Tim, visited central Florida and included both WDW and Universal in their itinerary.  The report is fun to read, with plenty of detail and information on the contrasts between the three hotels and Disney vs. Universal.

Patricia Aliventi - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: FWC, FWH, Offsite
  • Accommodations: Cabin, Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments:  Patti provides a fantastic narrative of a lengthy trip to Florida that included a bit over a week at WDW.  The report covers both parts of the trip and is rich in detailed play-by-play.  It's also one of the rare Fort Wilderness trip reports in the archive.

Kim Howe - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: Offsite
  • Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, Infrequent
  • Comments:  Kim, her husband Bill, and both of their mothers visited Florida in early February.  They had a side trip to St. Augustine first before heading over to WDW for the finale.  This is a nicely written summary-style report, with a wealth of information.  Orange Lake Resort, where the group stayed, is very well described in the report.

Carol Kelley - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: ASSR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room (King-Size bed, handicapped equipped)
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent, Infrequent
  • Comments:  Carol provides an excellent narrative of both the planning for this five-day trip and the trip itself.  It covers tons of details and is a typically-fun-to-read report (Carol's reports always are).

Andrew Della Vecchia - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: BVR
  • Accommodations: 1 Bedroom Vacation Home
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent, DVC Member
  • Comments:  Andrew and his wife enjoyed their DVC membership for the first time ever on this trip.  If you've never read one of Andrew's reports, I'll preface this by saying that no one compiles a better summary-style report than this guy.  I really love the details!

Jennifer Reall - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Spring
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: ASMuR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room (king size bed, handicap accessible)
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments:  Jennifer tells the tale of her 5th trip to WDW.  She went to Florida solo, but met up with some online friends during the trip.  This is a fun-to-read play-by-play report that I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Anne Campbell - February 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: PR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult, Senior
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, Infrequent
  • Comments:  Anne and her grandmother and a wonderful visit WDW together.  The trip was Anne's birthday gift to "Gram."   The report is a great play-by-play one that give quite a bit of detail about how to handle a trip with a senior as part of the group.  This is also Anne's first trip staying at a premium resort, so her reactions to the upscale accommodations are fun to read, too.

Rebecca Vaughn - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: SOG
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: Rebecca's report documents the visit of "the Disney babes," a group of friends from the Northwest that visited WDW for a six day trip in January during the Millennium Celebration.

Mike Banks - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: ASSR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments:  Without a whole bunch of pre-trip planning, Mike and his wife few down to spend some time at WDW with Mike's cousins.  This is a great play-by-play report.  if you like detail, you'll enjoy this one!  By the way, this is the first WDW report I've ever had from Mike.  He's got a few Disneyland reports on MousePlanet already, but this is the first on from his East coast visits.

Suzan Bird-Conliff - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Personal Car, Rental Car
  • Resort: ASMuR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent, Rookie
  • Comments:  Suzan and her family met up with some friends for a week long visit caused by those annual passes burning away in the dresser drawer.  This is a relatively brief play-by-play report that I'm sure you'll enjoy reading.

Alan Schaefer - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: WL
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
  • Comments:  Another great report by a repeat poster!  This is a report on Alan's trip with his wife in early January.  There is great play-by-play, detailed summary, fun to read restaurant reviews, and tons of other things that I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Marna D. E. Gatlin - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: DL
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
  • Comments:  This is a nicely written summary style report.  It covers many miscellaneous aspects of Marna's trip, including travel, meals, attractions, and some of the Millennium events and activities (i.e. pin trading).  I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Julie Price - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: BWR
  • Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
  • Comments:  This is Julie's umpteenth report on this site.  There aren't many trip report authors that have graced these pages that have been more prolific.  Obviously, Julie likes to document her trips...and it shows in the report.  It's a play-by-play report with a bunch of detail.  I'm sure you'll enjoy...

Allan Bennett - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: OKWR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments:  My Mom and Dad visited WDW in January for just a few days.  The report is play-by-play style, and describes the time that the Bennetts spent in the parks (they didn't get to Animal Kingdom on this trip, I think because the old passes that they were using up didn't include that park).

Sue Holland - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: ASMoR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, DVC Member
  • Comments:  Sue sent me this report with the following comment.  "Here's the latest. Next trip starts in 33 days! How's the weather up there? Boy, do I have a mean streak! ;-)."  As I type this, we in Michigan are hunkering down for an expected 12 inches of snow.  So, while I'm up in the great white North battling with the elements, Sue is basking in the Florida sun and visiting WDW.  Where's the justice in that?

Joseph L. Riccitelli, Jr. - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: PO
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, Rookie
  • Comments:  Joe and his sister Mary Rose took a week long trip to WDW in early January.  As usual, Joe includes a great deal of detail in the report, including detailed trip plans, a daily play-by-play followed by a very good summary report of the trip.  No matter what style of trip report you like, you'll be happy with this one.

Jennifer Gassman - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Taxi
  • Resort: CBR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult, Senior
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent, Rookie
  • Comments:  Jennifer's title for this report, "Four Parks in Three Days with Grandma, Mom, Kir and V" says it all.  The foursome, including 10-year old Kirsten and six-year-old Vince, enjoyed their short visit over the Martin Luther King Birthday weekend.  The report has plenty of details about the weather and crowds that will help anyone that is planning an early Winter trip in the future.

Grace Veach - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: Offsite (in Tampa)
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments:  Grace and her family spent a single day at WDW (they were actually vacationing in Tampa) in early January to catch the new Millennium things going on at Epcot.  This is short, but has some great information.

Kim Lucas - January 2000

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: CSR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
  • Comments:  Kim sent me the pre-trip report for this journey just a few days before her trip.  She was back before I was able to post it  :)  As always, it's great to have regulars that provide me with reports trip after trip.  It makes my life easier.  Having said that, I'm sure you'll enjoy the report...a quick one, by a vet.
