- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: WL, ASMR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Infant, Pre-School,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: John and his family visited WDW to
celebrate the family patriarch's (that would be John) 40th birthday.
In five days, the family had a wonderful time.
John's report provides alot of help for families that visit
with younger children. It also describes some of the strategies
that John worked out to maximize everyone's enjoyment during
the trip.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Senior Adults
- WDW Experience in Group: Rookie (previous WDW
experience limited to three days in 1988)
- Comments: I'll simply let Peggy's own comment
suffice here...."I have enjoyed reading the WDW reports
at your web site. I haven't seen many from people my age. I
am certainly in favor of destroying any ideas that older people
may have that WDW is only for people with children; maybe my
trip report will help do that."
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Becky and her kids flew to WDW around
Thanksgiving time to take advantage of the school break. Becky's
husband, unfortunately, wasn't able to join the others for this
trip. Daniel, Catherine, and Becky saw alot during their trip...and
most of it was focused on the kids (an interesting perspective
for a trip report).
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: VDI
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Elaine's family visited WDW around
Thanksgiving time and stayed in a tree house villa at the Disney
Institute! If for no other reason, this report is notable for
that fact. Elaine laced the text with wonderful meal descriptions
both on- and off-site. Traveling with kids is another theme
of this report.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: SOG - Shades of Green
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Rookie
- Comments: This will be an interesting report
for all of those DOD and military folks out there...Mary and
her family stayed at Shades of Green, the Department of Defense
- operated resort at WDW. The Ferguson family did WDW like troopers.
In just a few days, they saw and did a lot.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: DL, BVR
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Frequent
- Comments: This trip was just a little Thanksgiving
fix for Lisa, a bonafide WDW junkie, and her family. The family
stayed at Dixie Landings and Boardwalk Villas Resorts -- and
took in all of the wonderful holiday atmosphere that WDW offers
at the end of each year.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Elementary,
Adult, Older Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Infrequent, Rookie
- Comments: This is Paul's first ever trip report,
but it's very well written. Besides covering the day-to-day
activities of the family, Paul gives a great list of good and
bad things to keep in mind when planning a trip. It's that kind
of information that makes reading trip reports helpful -- even
to WDW vets!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Unknown
- Comments: Steve and his wife went for a long
weekend trip in late November. It was a whirlwind trip, but
the twosome covered a lot of territory. Especially interesting
is Steve's descriptions and opinions of the West End, Pleasure
Island, and the Boardwalk. A trip report with detail in those
areas is pretty rare, so if you're curious about Disney's shopping
and nightlife venues...this is the report for you.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: BCR, FWH
- Accommodations
- The Ages Represented in Group: Infant/Toddler,
Elementary, Teen, Adult
- WDW Experience in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Doug and his family visited WDW in
mid-November. During the first part of the trip the Smith's
stayed at the Beach Club Resort, then they moved over to Fort
Wilderness to stay in a Fort Wilderness Home when they were
joined by Doug's mother-in-law. Doug gives a lot of details
about their visit...
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent,
Rookie
- Comments: As I post this report (in October,
1999) this is a "golden oldie" - pun intended.
Candy has submitted a fun report of a trip during WDW's 25th
Anniversary year. I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: OKWR
- Accommodations: Grand Villa
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Darla, her son Steven, and friend
Dave, and a whole villa full of friends stayed at OKWR for a
week in October. Like Darla's report from last year, this one
was originally written and posted to AOL's DVC message board,
so it definitely gives you that "you are there" feeling.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite (Quality Suites Maingate)
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult, Teen, Elementary
- WDW Experience in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Mary and her husband Bob took their
whole family for a "once in a lifetime" trip to WDW.
Like most newbies, the Miller's are now planning their second
"once in a lifetime" trip. The family stayed offsite,
and Mary explains why that was a good option for them -- and
may be for you.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car, Plane
- Resort: OKWR / WL
- Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home / Standard
Room / Studio
- Ages Represented in Group: Infant/Toddler,
Teen, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Infrequent, DVC Members
- Comments: This is my own 1997 "Remember
the Magic" trip report. I hope you find it helpful as you
plan your own trips. Except for Mike Scopa's report from July
1998, this is the most lengthy one in this collection.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: WL
- Accommodations: Handicapped Accesible Room
because we requested a king-sized bed
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Cathy and her husband, Bryant, visited
WDW in October (for the second time this year!) to celebrate
their 20th wedding anniversary. In Cathy's words, "Since
we had been before, this trip was focused on the three r's -
rest, relaxation and romance!" This is a wonderful report
on a laid-back trip. Another bonus is Cathy's description of
the Backstage Magic tour the couple enjoyed.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: WL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent,
Rookie
- Comments: This report is nicely detailed. It's
written by a very infrequent visitor (Darren hadn't been to
WDW since 1975), and covers the trip well. I often enjoy reports
written by folks that are rookies or close to it. This is no
exception. Darren gives a magical narrative full of useful trip
planning information.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: ASSR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: This is really a treat. Carol Kelley
and sons, Matthew (11) and Kevin (10), all wrote trip reports
of their family's visit to WDW. Carol's is filled with hints
and tips, and there's an extensive list of lessons-learned to
summarize. Matthew and Kevin each wrote their reports from their
own perspectives. You'll enjoy all three, and if you have kids
in the elementary/middle school years, you'll gain some insight
about what your kids will like, too.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Villa
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Rookie
- Comments: John's report covers the planning
and the details of his family's October trip. Besides giving
a well-written play-by-play account of the visit, John laced
the report with many useful trip planning tips. If you're a
consummate trip planner like many WDW visitors seem to be, you'll
enjoy John's account -- and the planning information.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal car
- Resort: CSR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
DVC Member, Rookie
- Comments: Sue and her friend Nancy stayed at
Coronado Springs Resort for a nice trip early in October. Besides
providing some details on Disney's newest resort, Sue's report
gives her impressions of several of WDW's restaurants, too.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: WL, Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Carol and Mark spent their honeymoon
at Wilderness Lodge. Besides enjoying the Disney parks,
they also visited Busch Gardens and Universal Studios during
the trip. On top of everything else, the couple became
DVC members during their stay. That alone makes this a
memorable trip!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: PBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Diana's report is in the play-by-play
style, and covers the family's 1997 trip. The Stassen's
booked a "Fall Fantasy" package, and thoroughly enjoyed
the visit to WDW with their four-year-old daughter, Karen (who
really had fun with the various characters during this trip.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Bruce wrote a fantastic report on
the trip he and his wife took in September, 1997. The
report was written in a mix between a play-by-play and a summary
style. It's dripping with useful information, and
is very fun to read.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMR / Offsite
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult (Pregnant)
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Fernando and his wife, veterans of
Disneyland and visitors to all of the Disney parks (including
Tokyo and Paris), visited WDW this Fall. The report is written
in a play-by-play style. The Duque's did a lot during their
visit, including two dinner shows (the Murder Watch dinner at
the Grosvenor was one of them, if you're curious about it).
Fernando's wife was pregnant during this trip, so the fact that
they covered as much as they did is amazing!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: PO
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Joe decided to get away from it all
and take a solo trip to WDW for an extended weekend. He's a
single 28 year old fellow, and stayed at Port Orleans. Joe also
met up with his friend John, an Orlando area resident, and several
RADPers.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: CR / PBR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veterans
- Comments: Michelle and her husband took a nine-night
trip to WDW to "celebrate" Michelle's 30th birthday.
The report is a play-by-play style one and covers all the details
of the trip. The report covers the restaurants, an E-Ticket
Express night, and a lot of other hints and tips that everyone
can learn from. Michelle also reported on a couple of RADP meets
that she and Jim attended.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: BIR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Lisa and Jenny, her college student
daughter, visited WDW just to "get it out of their system"
for a little while. Lisa is another WDW CM wannabee, so obviously
she enjoys the magic as much as most die-hard Disney fans. The
report is a brain-dumb of what happened, which was written after
the trip was over, filled with lots of details worth checking
out, too.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal car
- Resort: Port Orleans/Offsite
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Virtual
Rookies
- Comments: Patti and Don collaborated on this
report. It's fun to read because even though the Karriker's
haven't visited WDW frequently, they certainly caught the magic
during their visit. Lots of helpful details...and just a fun
report...enjoy!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: PBR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veterans
- Comments: Derek and Anne's second visit of
the year took them to the Polynesian Beach Resort. These guys
do WDW the way a true veteran does...never waiting in line,
enjoying the restaurants, noticing all the little details...and
just enjoying the wonderful ambiance of Walt Disney World. If
you want to know how to do WDW with all the tricks of the trade,
the DeBoer's have it down pat!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service, Rental
Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations: Honeymoon Suite
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Edwin and his new bride Linda visited
WDW in September for their honeymoon. I personally think September
is a great month to honeymoon in Florida :) The Hendriks hail
from the Netherlands, so this report has great information for
the European travelers. Also, Edwin and Linda have both been
to Disneyland Paris, so their comparisons of the two resorts
is particularly interesting.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Personal Car (the group
split up on their travel down to WDW)
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Frequent
- Comments: Andrew's report documents a trip
of a whole bunch of folks. They all stayed at Dixie Landings,
which Andrew found to be a very good value. He also concluded
that five days is far too short of a time for a thorough visit
to WDW.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Lisa went to visit WDW solo this
trip. During her time at Walt Disney World, Lisa spent some
time meeting up with fellow RADPers, visiting the parks, resort
hopping, and checking out the DVC. This is a fun, even though
short, report.
