Fall 1998 WDW Trip Reports
|
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Paul's report describes his family's
trip in late November. In addition to a nice play-by-play
of each day's activities, he summarizes each day with a list
of "impressions and pointers." These are fun
to read, and would be particularly helpful for rookie trip planners
(some of us trip report authors tend to gloss over some details
that we are very familiar with, but which the new guest may
not be.)
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: GFRS
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Teen, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Joelle's entire family spent a fantastic
week at the Grand Floridian and soaked up a ton of Disney magic.
This was the family's second trip, but they did it like veterans.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Amy and her beanie baby (read the
report, you won't believe me anyway) visited WDW for a nice
week-long trip in mid-November. This is almost a solo
trip report, but not quite...at least Amy doesn't talk to -
herself :) This is a very nicely written, detailed,
play-by-play report of a wonderful trip!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite (Sheraton Inn Lakeside)
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Joy's report covers the family's
trip in mid-November. I enjoyed the brief play-by-play
description of the trip, but also the list of trip comments
and suggestions at the end of the report.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Infant/Toddler,
Elementary, Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Frequent
- Comments: This is John's second trip report
on my site (check out his September 1996 trip, too). John's
report is play-by-play, but also includes a huge list of summarizations,
observations, and reviews. If you're looking for suggestions
and opinions, you'll love this report!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Andy's report is a short one, but
has several great tips (and they're nicely highlighted within
the report so they're easy to find). He also includes
specific details about how his kids (ages 3 and 5) liked things.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: CR, DL
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Ellen (no relation to the web
master) has written a wonderfully-detailed account of her family's
trip. In addition to great descriptions, Ellen has included
daily expense information. The Bennett clan stayed at
the Contemporary Resort for the first few days of the trip before
moving over to Dixie Landings for the remainder.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: GFRS, PO, CSR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Anne and Drew combined a business
trip with a slightly belated honeymoon. Frequent
Disneyland visitors, the couple has had only old (pre-1990ish)
experience at WDW. In fact, Drew hadn't been to WDW since
1974! The report is in play-by-play mode, and covers a
lot of detail. My favorite aspect of the report is the
detailed meal descriptions including California Grill and Victoria
& Alberts.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASSR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Sheri and her daughters visited WDW
for a week-long trip in mid-November. Since they
all were rookies to the vacation kingdom, Sheri's report has
a lot of interesting perspectives. This is a shorter report,
but filled with opinions and ideas on what to do to save money
and make the trip more enjoyable.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: CBR, VDI, PO
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Rob's report has an interesting twist.
Being a consummate trip planner, he had a daily plan in mind
for the entire vacation. Rob documents the "plan"
and the "reality" for each day. This report
has a lot of details on the likes and dislikes of the entire
group. Great reading for the planner!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Ben's report is summary style,
but lengthy. He covers a great deal of information about
the resort, transportation, and so on. If you're looking
for personal opinions on WDW, this is a great place to start!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: Offsite (Isle of Bali)
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Infant, Toddler,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Though not a full-blown trip report,
Ted provides some helpful information and opinions on visiting
WDW with a toddler and infant. I know that I've always
appreciated the suggestions and input from others when I first
planned a trip with our son. Likewise, these comments
will be helpful to anyone that is planning a future trip.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Anne and her 9-year-old son Tom spent
a few days at WDW so they could use up the last few days on
their World Hopper passes, see Animal Kingdom, and just enjoy
Dixie Landings for the first time.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: YCR, PBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Lynne and her mom stayed at two premium
resorts during their visit. This is a summary style report,
and has a lot of helpful details about the resorts and parks.
I especially enjoyed Lynne's meal descriptions and various comments.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: BVR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Andrew's summary style report covers
just about everything! It's very detailed, in fact - it
is without doubt the most detailed summary-style report I've
ever read.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Elementary,
Teen, Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent,
Rookie
- Comments: Mikki and her family stayed
at Dixie Landings during their recent visit. In
addition to the Anderson's, eight other extended family members
and friends tagged along. Besides enjoying WDW, the group
visited several offsite attractions and even drove down to Southern
Florida for a bit at the end of the trip.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Train
- Resort: PBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Twice in one year? It's
not fair! No sooner did Kathy return from her honeymoon
this Spring than she's up and going back for a repeat trip.
This is a fun report with a lot of detail. A trip feature
worth highlighting is that Kathy and Stan used Amtrack for their
travel mode.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car, Plane
- Resort: OKWR, VDI, CSR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Frequent, Infrequent, Rookie, DVC Member
- Comments: I'll just quote Sue for this
summary, "This was another wonderful trip! It’s such fun
sharing DVC with others who don’t have a clue what they’re missing!
Everyone just LOVES the place. We had more than enough room
in the grand villa, and it was soooo hard to leave. Except for
1.5 days due to tropical storm Mitch, we had great weather -
sunshine, low 80’s. Spending 10 days was plenty of time, and
allowed for some down time as well. We didn’t come close to
seeing everything in the parks, but that’s never a priority
of my trips. The resort experience and Comedy Warehouse are
just as important (actually they’re probably MORE important)
to me than the theme parks."
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: BCR
- Accommodations: 2 Standard Rooms, connecting
- Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Elementary,
Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent,
Rookie
- Comments: This is a nicely written summary-style
report, with many fun observations to read. Rodney's family
took his in-laws to visit WDW, so this trip included some juggling
between varied interests.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: BCR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: This is a report I've had on
file for quite some time, but hadn't put on the site.
Now it's here...and I hope you enjoy it. It's a nicely
written play-by-play with a bunch of detail.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: WL, DL, Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Doug and Julie took their two kids
(8 and 4) for a wonderful twelve day visit to Florida to see
family and WDW. They stayed offsite during a portion of
the trip, then moved to Wilderness Lodge. Later in the
trip, the family moved again, this time to Dixie Landings.
Among the great features of this report is a well-written comparison
of the two themed Disney resorts.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: PBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult,
Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent,
Infrequent
- Comments: Aileen's fall trip was a fantastic
visit. In addition to 6 1/2 year old daughter Cassidy,
Aileen's mom joined the troupe for the vacation. This
is a nicely written play-by-play report.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent,
Infrequent, Rookie
- Comments: This trip report details the Larison
family's first trip to WDW with the two four year old twin boys
(Andrew and Josh). Tim's report has a lot of great detail (especially
about how the boys experienced everything). Meals and
other descriptions and options are frequently given, too.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Pre-School, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Frequent
- Comments: Daniel and his wife and daughter
(age 4) enjoyed a week long trip in October. Daniel's
report is nicely detailed, and he has laced the report with
several tips that are helpful to everyone that is planning a
trip. During the course of their visit, the Swift's enjoyed
Mickey’s not-so-scary Halloween Party and Fantasmic!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adul
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Darcy's report is written in a conversational
summary style. It's very fun to read, but is far from
a play-by-play report. Instead, Darcy focused on meals
(I loved the description of high tea at the Grand), travel issues,
and WDW's newest attractions.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: ASSR, FWH
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Maryann wrote a great summary style
report. She calls it a "Reader's Digest" report,
but it's still full of details and fun to read.
This has information on the resorts, the Hoop Dee Doo, Tiffany
Town Car, and lots of other stuff.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: This summary-style report covers
a lot of interesting details. Linda makes it clear that
she is NOT a Disney-fanatic, and her perspective is definitely
interesting for me (a tried and true one). It's refreshing
to hear some constructive criticism of WDW. I spent quite
a bit of time, as I read through this report, thinking about
how I would have handled some of the negatives through a change
in plans. It can be done...

- Comments: Brittany's dad gave me permission
to post her report. It's short, but has a great perspective.
If you're taking a middle elementary-aged child to WDW, this
might give you some insight about what they might like and dislike.
Also, you might consider having your son or daughter drop Brittany
an email note to see if she has any suggestions or "must
sees" that she can pass along.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Debbie and her four and a half year
old daughter Raquel visited WDW for a wonderful trip.
In addition to scouring the Magic Kingdom, the twosome enjoyed
several of the character meals, visited a few of the themed
resorts, and spent some time at Downtown Disney, Fort Wilderness,
Discovery Island, and Typhoon Lagoon for good measure!

- Comments: Ronnie's report covers her family's
trip (Ronnie, husband Mike, and Daughter Jill - and Jill's Grandma)
for about a week. The plan was to addict Grandma to WDW
as much as the rest of the family is. You'll have to read
up to see if it worked or not. One other thing, if you've
ever been curious about "hightea" served at the Grand
Floridian, read up. The O'Rourke party did that one afternoon.
(I've been curious about that for years, so I really enjoyed
reading about it myself.)
- Time of Year: Fall

- Resort: DL, Offsite

- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Kathy, Jeff, and Stephen spent several
days in the Orlando area. If you're planning to visit
the area on a budget, this is the trip report for you.
The family did a bunch of things to stretch their dollars...and
had a great time in the parks.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: Day Trip
- Accommodations: n/a
- Ages Represented in Group: Teen, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent,

- Comments: Sue and Chris visited WDW to
help celebrate the birthday of one of Chris's friends.
This was a whirlwind day...I'm amazed that the group was able
to cover so much ground in a single day.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: PBR, DL, ASMR

- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Laurie, Brad and twelve-year-old
son Alex visited WDW for eleven days in October. As you
might imagine, they covered a lot of territory...and stayed
at three resorts during the trip! Interesting report for
folks with pre-teens. Alex even gives a not-to-be-missed
list and a too-be-missed list at the end of the report.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Sheri's report was first posted
to this site as a planning report. The planning
information is still there (there's a wealth of knowledge for
anyone that wants to know more about planning), but now includes
all the details from the trip, too. Another great feature
is the excellent background material on previous trips that
the family has taken (including some excellent critiques on
some of the WDW resorts!)
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Infrequent, (DL veteran)
- Comments: John and his daughter Natalie
took a quick three day visit to WDW in October. They had
a great time at WDW, even though the trip was clouded by some
less than great travel concerns. John does a tremendous
job describing how he handled the trip to make sure that he
and Nat had some nice quality time together.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: WL, PO, Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent,
Rookie (but very familiar with Disneyland Paris)
- Comments: Frank's report is a first for
this website. It's the first one published completely
in a non-English Language. If you're a French reader,
you'll enjoy the story of Frank and Karine's honeymoon.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: CSR, OKWR, ASSR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience: Frequent, DVC Members
- Comments: Carol's report is a combination of
a summary style and play-by-play. It covers a lot of details,
and is well worth reading for anyone planning a lengthy trip!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: BVR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Infrequent, DVC Member
- Comments: Gaylene and her sister Colleen visited
Orlando for a convention and stopped into see WDW while they
were in town. They also had the "privilege"
(actually all mine) of meeting yours truly at Beaches &
Cream. A nice Fall trip to break up the monotony of living
3000 miles away from WDW!
- Time of Year: Falln
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Mike and Rebecca had a nice four
day visit to WDW just because their next trip wasn't scheduled
to happen until the Fall of 1999 - far too long to wait for
another trip! With their honeymoon trip last December,
and this one, it like we have some new addicts on our hands.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: CSR, DL
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen,
Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Jacquie and her whole family (including
her mom and sister's family) enjoyed a week and a half at WDW
in September. The family enjoyed the parks, but also visited
a number of the full service restaurants. Jacquie's report
goes into some detail to describe them (which is a part of trip
reports that I really enjoy).
- Time of Year: Summer
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: If you like long, detailed, play-by-play
trip reports, you'll LOVE this one. Kevin is from
the UK, so he has a unique (for us colonists) point of view
on traveling to WDW. On the other hand, with a good sized
handful of kids, Kevin's family can teach us a lot about what
to do and what not to do on a trip to Walt Disney World.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: DL / Offsite - Residence Inn on Lake
Cecil
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: Mark and his wife Lane enjoyed
a 15th wedding anniversary trip at WDW. They stayed
offsite for the first part of the trip and at Dixie Landings
for the second. Mark's report is especially interesting
because of the summary conclusions about on-site versus off-site
and whether or not to use Disney transportation.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: The Kelly's spent a week in
mid-September playing "Commando" at the Orlando attractions.
In my opinion, Rhiannon and her family did it all wrong, but
they seemed to like it that way. :) There's a lot
to be gleaned here, if you're into the heavily-planned, dawn-to-dusk
trip.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: PO
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Jen and Jo spent a nice week scouring
the entire resort. This is a fun report...and has the
longest list of final thoughts I've seen in a trip report in
eons (except for my own).
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: WL, ASSR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: This is a great play-by-play
report by a now-confirmed Disney addict. Lynette
and Rob spent a great eight days completely enjoying the resorts
and parks.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: OKWR
- Accommodations: Two-Bedroom Vacation Home
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Virtual Rookie
- Comments: This report describes the background
for our annual Fall trip to WDW. This time, Barbara's parents
(Allan's Grandma and Grandpa) joined us at Old Key West. We
also made a brief stop in Jacksonville on the way down to visit
Barb's sister and brother-in-law and a few short, just fun stops
along the route for good measure.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: The Hodges, Florida residents
that frequently visit WDW, came for a short trip in September.
This is a summary style report that gives alot of great opinions
and reviews. The trip was unique because the family never
set foot in a theme park! Instead, they enjoyed Typhoon
Lagoon, the resorts, and other WDW attractions.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: VDI
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Jim's report is very unique!
It describes his experience in attending "The Mulan Animation
Experience" at the Disney Institute. If you're into
drawing or animation or just the movie Mulan, you'll definitely
enjoy this report.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: YBCR, CSR
- Accommodations
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Adult,
Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,

- Comments: Pamela's report is a combination
of a play-by-play description of a couple of weekend stays at
Coronado Springs and the Yacht Club resorts and some summary
information of other resorts onsite, transportation issues,
and touring the parks with kids. Having said that,
this one is a blockbuster!
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: ASMuR

- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
bordering on rookie (Bill's words, not mine)
- Comments: Bill and his wife Amy visited
WDW in the late Summer of 1998 and had a wonderful time.
The story about their Accommodations is a frightening one (with
a happy ending). The whole report is a fun one to read
with plenty of details and a play-by-play format.
- Time of Year: Fall
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,

- Comments: Eric provides a very thorough and
entertaining dialog of his trip, along with three friends, back
on Labor Day weekend in 1998. His parting shot? "Next time
I come, I promise, I will spend more time. A week or so maybe."
