Spring 1999 WDW Trip Reports
|
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: OKWR
- Accommodations: Two-Bedroom Vacation Home
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Adult,
Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Infrequent
- Comments: This report is now the heavyweight
champion on this web site! The file size is over 302Kb,
which means it's a long one. The text describes the background
and plans for our annual trip to WDW, then gives a detailed
play-by-play of the vacation. Taking a 2 1/2 year old
was a new experience for us, but we still have the best vacation
we've ever had up to know (the next one will only be better
yet!)
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: BVR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
(and a former CM)
- Comments: Joe and Betty took their (former
CM) son down to WDW for a week long stay. The Fedenyszen's
are frequent travelers to WDW, but this is the first trip report
I have from Joe. Hopefully it won't be the last.
The text is filled with wonderful descriptions of the parks
and meals.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Maryann's husband Tim had to
work a convention in Orlando...and the rest of the family joined
him for a reduced-price trip. The result was a tremendous
vacation, and a wonderfully written trip report. Maryann's
is a summary style one, with plenty of detail.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Rental Car
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent,
Infrequent
- Comments: Juan Carlos and his Aunt, Uncle,
and cousins visited WDW for a week in May. This is a quickly-paced
report, not as detailed as a play-by-play, but with plenty of
opinions and lessons-learned (including a summary list at the
end.)
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: PO
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Julie and her parents stopped
in at Port Orleans for a weeklong visit in the late Spring.
The report is a detailed play-by-play that includes a lot of
information (including an eye-opening offsite/onsite comparison).
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Personal Car (friends)
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations: 1 Bedroom Vacation Home
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Infrequent, Rookie
- Comments: Jennifer's report describes
the one day touring of a former college program cast member,
a Florida resident pass holder, one 2-3 time visitor and one
first timer. They covered all of the major parks in one
day, so if you're a die hard Disney commando...read this report!
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Personal Car
- Resort: PR, DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Michael and his family visited
WDW for several days in late May and early June. This
is yet another detailed play-by-play report (my favorite kind!)
that is laced with details, opinions, and hints and tips.
Michael (with daughter Jenna's help) has documented the trip
and added a great list of information at the end of the report
that you'll definitely want to read through.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: BCR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Donald and his wife had a very
unique (for them) trip this time. There are many reasons
for this, you can read them in the report, but suffice to say
they had a wonderful trip. The report that Don has submitted
is laced with tips that he learned throughout the trip...and
there's a nice summary of them at the end of the report, too.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: OKWR, VBR
- Accommodations: Standard Room, 1 Bedroom Vacation
Home
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Frequent, DVC Member
- Comments: This was Tim and Anne's first trip
to WDW as DVC members. In addition to spending a week
and a half at OKWR, the family stopped off at Vero Beach for
a relaxing time before heading home. Tim's report is very
informative, and is in a non-rigorous play-by-play format.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: With an Annual pass "burning
a hole in her pocket," and an AP rate available on rooms
at the moderate resorts, Anne left her newlywed husband for
a short (her words) five day trip to WDW. I'm sure Anne's
husband, Drew, will make up for lost time when the couple returns
in the Fall for their first anniversary trip.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: ASMuR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: This report is almost a year
old as I post it, but it has a ton of great information!
It's a play-by-play report, but with a great summary at the
end that I'm sure everyone will love to read through.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Stephanie and her husband Eric
enjoyed several days in Florida, most of which were spent right
at WDW. The rookie couple did well, planning and executing
a wonderful trip. If you're looking for a report with
some information that many of us several-timers don't think
to put in a report, Stephanie's might be just the one for you!
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Teen, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Dwight and his wife, Pat, and fifteen
year old daughter Jenn visited WDW for the umpteenth time back
in April over the Spring break from school. The report
is a detailed play-by-play, and is laced with information.
There is a brief review of the Circ du Soliel and a great description
of the family's ongoing searches for pressed coins all over
the complex.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Cars
- Resort: Offsite
- Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: This is a short, but information-packed
summary-style trip report. There's a lot of information
in this report, and it's quick reading.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: BIR
- Accommodations: Standard Room (Concierge)
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Kathy and her husband Rick stole
off to WDW since their son, James, was on a school trip during
Spring vacation this year. The result was an adults-only
honeymoon and a wonderful trip. The Lowes enjoyed a "Keys
to the Kingdom" tour and the Flower and Garden Festival
that was going on at Epcot during their visit.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: YBCR, ASSR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Victor and his family (wife Karen,
and children Stina and David) enjoyed several days in early
April down at WDW. Vic and Karen kept the trip a secret
from the kids until the very last minute...then the whole family
flew down to Orlando and spent the better part of a week in
the sun.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: CBR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: David's report is a nicely written
narrative about his family's trip in late April. It's
written in a play-by-play style, and includes many observations,
hints, tips, and lessons-learned that anyone can apply to their
own trips.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: Offsite

- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent,
Rookie
- Comments: Grace, husband Steve, and son Vincent
(almost four years of age) visited in late April for a week-plus
long trip. The report covers the trip in a play-by-play
fashion, and avoid the excessive detail on planning that some
trip reports tend to have (my own, for example). One excellent
feature of the report is Grace's remarks on how Vincent enjoyed
various things in the parks. That can be a very helpful
comparison for anyone planning a trip with their own toddler!
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: ASSR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent,
Rookie
- Comments: Tanya and her family spent a nice
long weekend (Thursday to Sunday) at WDW in early April.
Tanya has done a nice job with this play-by-play account of
the vacation, with great information about meals, attraction
wait times, and the like.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane
- Resort: DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Jim provides a fantastic pre-trip
report that provides details about trip planning decisions and
so on, but also tells a lot of stories about the evolution of
the trip. After that, Mr. Pertierra regales the reader
with the details of the trip itself. This isn't really
a play-by-play report, Jim doesn't go into that level of detail
for the whole thing, but you will certainly get a good idea
about how the family handles their visits to Walt Disney World.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: WL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Infant, Toddler,
Pre-School, Elementary, Teen, Adult, Senior
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran,
Frequent, Infrequent, Rookie, DVC Member
- Comments: Laurie and her son Clayton visited
WDW for a long weekend in April. They were able to meet
up with some friends during the trip, and otherwise had a wonderful
trip geared toward the interests of a 5 1/2 year old.
Next trip, the entire Johnson family is going, this time, the
twosome had a wonderful time touring the parks and just enjoying
being together.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: BIR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: This trip was a "replacement"
for a planned trip in early February that didn't come off due
to illness. This time, Tara and Joe spent a full five
days at WDW. If you're into detailed reports, read this
one. Not only does Tara provide a thorough play-by-play
of the trip, but she also summarizes the meals, provides a resort
review, a spending summary, and other information.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: PR
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
- Comments: Boris' report is very short,
just a few highlights, but a fun one to read. If you just
want a quick WDW charge in the morning, read this one...your
boss will be happy you didn't read one of the "War &
Peace"-sized ones today.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
- Resort: PO
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
- Comments: Jennifer and her new groom
Scott, visited WDW for their honeymoon trip. In addition
to thoroughly enjoying everything the parks offer, the couple
enjoyed many of the non-typical things too....including dinner
at Victoria & Albert's.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Autotrain, Rental Car,

- Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
- Comments: This is a wonderful report (at least
according to my own standards)! It's long.
It's detailed. It is filled with trip planning tips and
lessons-learned. And last, but not least, it's fun to
read.

- Comments: It had been fifteen years or more
since Julie and the rest of her family had visited WDW!
On this trip, the Lorino clan stayed at Dixie Landings (except
for the last night) and thoroughly enjoyed the vacation kingdom.
Julie's report also features several hints, tips, and attraction
spoilers that you may find helpful as you plan your own trip.

- Resort: OKWR
- Accommodations: Standard Room

- Comments: This is a wonderfully written report
about Sue's solo trip to WDW. Sue, a veteran WDW and DVC
traveler, knows how to do WDW! With over 75 trips under
her belt so far, and more piling up each year, Sue has wonderful
ideas about what to do on her trips -- ideas that you can use
on your own trips.

- Resort: PR, DL
- Accommodations: Standard Room
- Ages Represented in Group: Toddler, Elementary,
Adult
- WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
- Comments: Karen's is an excellent report on
visiting WDW with kids. In addition to the frequently
reported issues of park touring and so on, the Judge's dropped
the older boys off at the Neverland Club while the parents and
the baby had a quieter dinner at Artist Point. Lots of
helpful details here...

- Comments: Carl, a former cast member (1982),
returned to WDW for the first time in many years. The
report is a concise summary-style, but the hints and tips laced
throughout are priceless.

- Comments: Tracy's report is unique because
it gives the Reinke's plans for each day, followed by what actually
transpired. She closes the report with a nice list of
favorites that are well-worth reading through.
- Time of Year: Spring
- Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
- Resort: ASMoR

- Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen,

25th Anniversary at WDW. The report is a nicely written
play-by-play with lots of great commentary and opinions.

- Comments: A total of about fifteen women, all
fellow-DVC chatters on AOL, decided to meet at WDW for a weekend
visit. Ladies joined in from the East coast, Midwest,
as well as Florida and Georgia. This is a wonderful report
of a very unique trip...if I know Sue, this is just the first
of several of her own trips to WDW in 1999 -- a fact that makes
me continuously jealous, and makes me want to move to Orlando
when I retire in 30 years or so.
