Pre-1996 WDW Trip Reports

Dave Howe - December 1995

  • Time of Year: Holiday Season
  • Travel Method: Unknown
  • Resort: PO
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Unknown
  • Comments: Dave and his wife spent their honeymoon at Port Orleans in December 1995. They purchased a "Honeymoon Escape" package deal. Dave provides information on the resort as well as a day-by-day report of their park touring.

Dotti Saroufim - December 1995

  • Time of Year: Holiday Season
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: OKWR
  • Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen, Adult, Senior
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, Rookie, DVC Member
  • Comments: Dotti and her family stayed at Old Key West Resort. Dotti's mom and aunt joined them on the trip, so this report provides a good deal of information on travelling with folks with disabilities. Another great aspect of this report is the Christmas Holiday goings-on in the parks that Dotti describes with such flair.

A.D. Jensen - December 1995

  • Time of Year: Holiday Season
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: PBR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Infant/Toddler, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
  • Comments: A.D., his wife, and daughter (age 4) spent several days at the Polynesian Beach Resort on this trip. This is a fun report because it explains how A.D. dealt with taking a younger child to the parks. A.D. also describes the Holiday events at WDW.

Laura Stirling - December 1995

  • Time of Year: Holiday Season
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: YBCR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran
  • Comments: Laura and her family stayed at the Beach Club Resort and took advantage of many of the holiday goings-on at WDW during their trip. Midsized in length, but full of detail and useful information...

Brian Bennett - November 1995

  • Time of Year: Late Fall
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: OKWR
  • Accommodations: 2 Bedroom Vacation Home
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, Rookie, DVC Member
  • Comments: This was our annual trip to Old Key West Resort. At the time, OKWR was stilled called the Vacation Club Resort. Our good friends Mike and Stacey joined us on this journey. One of the features of the trip was our use of the Food 'N' Fun program, so I spent alot of words describing our meals at many wonderful restaurants at WDW.

Carol and Allan Bennett - September 1995

  • Time of Year: Early Fall
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: OKWR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
  • Comments: My Mom and Dad went to WDW in the Fall of 1995. The trip was relatively short, only four days onsite, but Mom and Dad packed alot into their time.

Caroline Di Rubbo - September 1995

  • Time of Year: Early Fall
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: Offsite
  • Accommodations: Standard Room, Suite
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent, Rookie
  • Comments: Caroline and her husband stayed offsite during this trip to WDW. It's an interesting description of a trip done "the other way" (i.e. staying offsite at a non-Disney resort).

Chris Barrette - July 1995

  • Time of Year: Summer
  • Travel Method: Unknown
  • Resort: ASR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: From the very beginning of Chris's report, the emphasis is on sharing what he learned during his visit to WDW. He stayed at the All Star Sports Resort and really sweated the details as he prepared for the trip...and his free sharing of that information is very helpful.

Wayne Stoler - June 1995

  • Time of Year: Holiday Season
  • Travel Method: Personal Car, Autotrain
  • Resort: CR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments: Wayne and his family traveled to WDW via Amtrack's AutoTrain. If for no other reason, this report is interesting and fun because of the train ride. Wayne also describes the family's touring of WDW in great detail.

Jason Weiss - June 1995

  • Time of Year: Summer
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: ASR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments: Jason, a 19 year old when this report was penned, covers the summer trip of his family to WDW. It definately has a perspective that would be useful to check out if you're planning a trip that includes teens or college-aged kids. The trip was arranged by buying a Classic Package with Accommodations in the All Star Music Resort.

Billy Atkins - May 1995

  • Time of Year: Spring
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: DL
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: Billy and his wife drove from Texas to WDW. They stayed at Dixie Landings and covered alot of territory. Nicely detailed report. Billy's comparison of the "mid-priced" resorts is especially interesting.

Ed Vawter - January 1995

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: OKWR
  • Accommodations: Unknown
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, DVC Member
  • Comments: Ed and his wife had a nice long trip, staying at the Disney Vacation Club (now OKWR). They also brought Ed's niece and nephew along, so the report covers alot about how to do WDW with kids too. Ed's report is very detailed and covers alot of infomation that can help others plan a trip.

Justin Callaghan - December 1994

  • Time of Year: Holiday Season
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: WL
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Teen, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: Justin's report covers a two day stay at Wilderness Lodge, visits to the Magic Kingdom, and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This is an interesting report since it covers things from a teens perspective.

Brian Charles Kohn - October 1994

  • Time of Year: Fall
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: GFRS, Offsite
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent (at the time)
  • Comments:  As I post this report (in January 2000), this report is just over five years old.  However, Brian has provided updated commentary to the original report, so it will be interesting to read for anyone (even folks that didn't even know what WDW was back in 1994).

Brian Bennett - September 1994

  • Time of Year: Early Fall
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: PBR, OKWR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Veteran, DVC Member (at the end of the trip anyway)
  • Comments: This is a relatively short report of our trip in 1994 when we went to WDW to celebrate our 5th anniversary and ended up buying into the Disney Vacation Club. The trip also included a Premier Cruise.

Mike Scopa - July 1994

  • Time of Year: Summer
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: WL,CBR
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Teen, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments: Mike's 1994 trip report is an absolute classic. This is the first trip report that I read...and it got me hooked on the idea. The trip was very long, almost three weeks at WDW. Also, Mike's family stayed at two Disney resorts (Wilderness Lodge and Caribbean Beach Resort) during the trip. This one belongs in the hall of fame!

Bob Smyk - June 1994

  • Time of Year: Summer
  • Travel Method: Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: WL
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: Bob's report covers a honeymoon stay at Wilderness Lodge. The resort was brand-new during the trip, and some bugs were still being worked out by the cast members, but an excellent report of a wonderful trip.

John Winn - February 1993

  • Time of Year: Winter
  • Travel Method: Plane, Shuttle Service
  • Resort: Offsite
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Teen, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: This is an old report, but still fun to read. John describes his trip with his two brothers...a very interesting perspective. The guys stayed offsite during their visit.

Sandi Femino - October 1992

  • Time of Year:  Fall
  • Travel Method:  Plane
  • Resort:  PBR
  • Accommodations
  • Ages Represented in Group: Elementary, Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments:  Here is the Report from when we were Grand Marshals. It does not fit your usual type of trip report, so I'm not sure if you can use it but here goes.   Since I did not write trip reports for our early family trips, I thought I would share unique bits and pieces of our trips over the years, a sort of memory kaleidoscope.

Brian Bennett - Pre-1994 Trips

  • Time of Year: Spring, Early Fall
  • Travel Method: Personal Car, Plane, Rental Car
  • Resort: CBR, DL, WDW Hilton, Offsite
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Frequent
  • Comments:
  • This is a compilation report of several trips that Barb and I took in 1988 1989 (our honeymoon) 1990 1991, and 1993. The reports are all relatively short, but cover information that is useful for planning trips even if the trips were quite awhile ago.

Jim Pertierra - March 1983

  • Time of Year: Spring
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: Offsite
  • Accommodations: Standard Room
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Infrequent
  • Comments: This is a description of Jim's second trip to WDW. When he and Janet got married, they'd hoped to go to WDW on their honeymoon. It didn't happen, but they did make it a few years later. As was Jim's last report, this is great collection of wonderful memories.

Jim Pertierra - April 1973

  • Time of Year: Spring
  • Travel Method: Personal Car
  • Resort: Offsite (Relative's Home)
  • Accommodations: n/a
  • Ages Represented in Group: Adult
  • WDW Experience Represented in Group: Rookie
  • Comments: This is a description of Jim's first trip to WDW. He grew up watching Disneyland the television show, but didn't get to a Disney park until almost twenty years later. A wonderful report, don't miss it! (As I add this report to the site's collection, I'm really looking forward to reading additional reports by Jim...stay tuned!)
