Jeneice Seagraves -- September 2001 -- Walt Disney World (PORR)CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Previous trips to WDW: September 1987 - Polynesian Resort September 1995 - Caribbean Beach Resort As we plan for our trip, I am following the advice of the travel guides and web sites. I have our luggage in the spare bedroom. I have been purchasing film, disposable water cameras, Johnson Foot Soak, soft collapsible cooler, stain stick, sunscreen, notebook for my trip report and wipes. I also am collecting things from the house to bring toys, backpack, nightlight, beach towels, and clothespins. I actually purchased extra shampoo etc. and packed my travel tote. I put them with the luggage so I won't forget them. We brought our Ponchos from our trip in '95. I made a small 1st aid kit to bring along, Disney Books with tapes, gum, tissues, bubbles and a small flashlight so my daughter will be all set. This room is starting to fill up. I can't wait for this trip. I am so excited that I talk about it all the time. Our neighbor will be taking care of our two cats Puff and Tigger. I will put a hold on our mail delivery. I notified my daughter's preschool. The teacher said Alyssa could make the work up when she returns. Wow she's in Pre-K and will have make-up work. I even typed an itinerary with flight, hotel and other trip information for the Moms and our neighbor. I am at a loss for words over the tragic events that occurred on September 11th. We are all shocked. We thank God our family is safe. But at the same time feel a loss for the thousands of people affected. Our hearts break for the people lost and there families. It was hard to think about having a vacation under the circumstances. We have been struggling over continuing with our plans or canceling. This does weigh heavy on my heart. We are scheduled to leave on the 20th and we can cancel and only lose one night hotel deposit. US Airways will re-ticket us at no cost. We are not decided if we are going at this point. On Saturday, 9/15/01 my daughter was playing with our neighbors' dog. She fell and went to get up and the dog jumped and knocked her over. She fell and was crying and not moving her shoulder. She fractured her left clavicle (collarbone). They sent us home and gave our daughter Alyssa a sling to wear. This didn't really keep her from moving it or give much support. The Dr in the ER told us this wasn't a trip buster. But as the week went on I wondered. It really hurt her and she wasn't getting much sleep. But after a visit to the Orthopedic Surgeon on 9/19/01, the night before our trip, they put a figure eight harness on her with a sling. He did say she should only get wet up to her waist so the harness doesn't get wet. Impossible for a four year old. I was upset with myself for not taking her to a specialist sooner. She seemed to feel better within a few hours. It really stabilized the movement. And we decided to go tomorrow. This was at about 6:00 p.m. After all of our planning I would never thought that we would be last minute with our go ahead on the trip. With mixed feelings of excitement and apprehension, we packed our clothes and stuff. We really did bring too much. FINALLY THE BIG DAY IS HERE! With three hours sleep... Thursday - Day One: Arrival at 12:17p.m.
Thursday, September 20, 2001 Arrived at the airport at 7:50 am after Pacifico Valet stop. Our MO as usual running late and the check-in line is very, very long. But went so quick. Then we went through security like normal. Some people were pulled aside and scanned with wands but we were waved on through. We stopped and ate breakfast and then waited for our 10:05 flight. We did bring our daughter's car seat and a stroller. We checked the stroller at the door of the plane. It was a little tough to get the car seat strapped in but worth it. It was a smooth flight and we all clapped when the flight landed and I breathed a sigh of relief. This was our daughter's 1st airplane ride and she was a little nervous and excited. She enjoyed reading the safety manuals. She even asked after looking at the plane diagram "Are we going to fly sideways?" Everyone around us snickered and laughed. This broke up the silent plane. She especially enjoyed the bathroom on the plane and said "this is cool". The first of many bathrooms stops on this trip. We were meet by Tiffany Town car driver, Gregory N. at the bottom of the escalator. He was holding a sign with our name on it, we felt like VIPs. Gregory left to retrieve the car and we waited with our luggage. They can no longer leave the car outside. He jogged away and returned soon. We were in Orlando and on our way. We were stopping at Publix but missed the stop and went to Gooding's ($55.03) instead. Avoid this place it's expensive. For instance Ritz Bits Crackers with twelve small servings was $6.99 and is only $3.99 at home. We picked up milk, water, bagels and snacks too. Next time well pack these. Arrived at the hotel and the bell hop took our luggage. We went to check in and it wasn't that busy. Two employees were doing check-ins and a few were just chatting. The hotel looks interesting but we want to check in and get to Epcot. We were done checking in at 2:10 p.m. (15 min.). Our daughter Alyssa sat at a really neat table with rocking chairs and colored. There was even a television. Our room is not ready in building 16 Alligator bayou, we had requested building 14 but it was not available. So we wandered through the Food Court. This is a really large open room. The water wheel outside turned out to be a neat attraction for our little one. Then we made our way through the Fulton's General Store and out to the Bus Stop to Epcot. EPCOT By 3:00 p.m. we had arrived at Epcot. We redeemed our Premium Annual Passes. I was surprised they were paper cards and not plastic like our room key. This took a little longer then usual since they had to redo one for a name error. Well we're finally off to Epcot with our 1st annual passes and a bag of skittles. This is the first of many treats on this trip. After a quick picture we headed for Spaceship Earth. There was no line we just walked on, so cool. The end is my favorite. Alyssa is frightened of loud noises and the dark. She kind of warmed up after a few minutes and she actually liked it. We hung out after we exited the ride and sent complimentary photo e-mails to a few people. Conducted music by waving our arms and legs. We called my husband's mother on the AT & T Giant Phone. Okay the troops are hungry we head to the Electric Umbrella. Pizza, cheeseburger meal and spring water and coke total $16.07. Wow we had a great view of the fountain again while we ate. There was no line for food. Glenn had the cheeseburger meal and Alyssa and I split the pizza. We actually shared many meals. The automatic trashcan was a neat surprise. We cut through Innoventions West Side to the Imagination Pavilion. We rode Journey into your imagination. Cute but I like the old figment ride with the catchy imagination song. Next, Honey I Shrunk the Kids. We waited about 2 minutes for the pre-show to start. We all loved the Pre-show with the True Colors song. Alyssa did not enjoy the special effects in the actual show. They were too intense. But as soon as we got outside her mood lightened up. The jumping fountains were great entertainment. She loved watching and playing with the water and also the smaller one with droplets. Again hardly any people in this area. Its is great to stop and enjoy the non-attraction attractions. Then we headed for the Land. We went to the Circle of Life first. There were about ten people in the show. This is a theme today. Great show Alyssa loved it and was singing the songs. Next Food Rocks. There's a twelve-minute wait for the next show. So we hit the bathroom, the first of three in the land, and wandered around. We were all tired and moving slower. Especially Alyssa she was up early and has not sleep through the night since Saturday, when she got injured. Back to Food Rocks now, there are about nine people in this show. A good show Neal Mousaka is my favorite. Next Living with the Land. I should have done fast pass. There was only about thirty people but we waited 20 minutes. There seemed to only be two boats running. This was informative and we saw the biggest Zucchini ever. Next we were off to the Living Seas. We were only here a short time and we did the Alpha Base thing. The fish were colorful. That is all I can remember because I didn't write it down. We stopped at a pay phone near the exit and camera center to get our room number. Also picked up an autograph book and fat pen, total $8.48. We couldn't pick up our Epcot picture, I can't find the slip. Everyone is hot and tired. So we took another bathroom break and headed for the bus. Stop #9 this is really far. Thank goodness we brought the stroller. We caught the bus and got back to the hotel. We got lost finding our room #1616. Whoa Hubby does not like the room so I call the front desk about it. The only request filled was for a first floor but it is set back far and a little too woodsy for me. I also call for our bags. This is the last tip of the day. I feel like I've been tipping people all day today! The best the front desk can do is building 15 near the parking lot but we'll have to pack up and move again. I ran to the food court to get a bite to eat while Glenn was unpacking. We decided to stay and see how the room works out. So I call the front desk to cancel the switch. Then I called housekeeping for a bed rail at 9:30pm. Then 45 minutes later I called again. I can't find a light switch and when I do the light is broken. Well Glenn is asleep and Alyssa conks out while I finish unpacking. I take a quick trip to the ice machine for the insulated cooler so I can unpack the food and water. I try to put the luggage under the bed and find trash (a panty hose lid and dry cereal). I call the front desk at 11:18pm. They apologized and sent the bed rail and promised to fix the light and vacuum under the bed tomorrow. I am the poster child of an unhappy guest at the Port Orleans. Well I'm gonna sleep on it and see how the resort looks in the morning. I'm too tired to care about an early start. We missed our Dinner at Epcot and Illuminations but we've got eleven more days and well fit it into the schedule. Friday - Day two:
Friday, September 21, 2001 Our day started late, Alyssa was up at 4:30 am her shoulder hurt, so we slept in and got up at 9:00am. I hope Animal Kingdom is empty today. We skipped breakfast and Alyssa had a Nutrigrain bar and chocolate milk. I made a few calls to get Alyssa an extra harness so we could go swimming. I had to get it from a Colonial Medical Supply in Orlando since the area pharmacy's didn't carry this. They'll mail it out today. We get to test the hotels mail delivery! Oh we missed the bus to Animal Kingdom. We forgot Blizzard Beach/Animal Kingdom share a bus. But another bus was there in a few minutes. Animal Kingdom The talking tree out front was funny. A short wait for security and were in the park. We get a map and make a B-line for Kilamanjaro Safari's. We waited about 15 minutes. My baby girl is getting upset about her surroundings but once on enjoys the bumpy ride and the animals. The lions were sleeping but the Giraffes, Gazelles and the Elephants were out. Then we walked the Pangani Trail this was crowded. Followed by the Train to Conservation Station it was a nice ride. Then a short walk to the building. My daughter talked to the CM and got to name some reptiles and feel snake skin. We also learned that they ring a triangle to bring the Rhinos in at night and they run. My husband wanted to clear out he thought this stunk. My daughter and I enjoyed it though. On the recommendation of the CM at the train station we headed for the Tusker House for lunch. Actually Breakfast for the grown-ups. I had the chicken sandwich with ham slice and Glenn had the Turkey wrap with lemonade total $17.25. Very good and for not eating we were starved. Alyssa ate peanut butter crackers, Nutrigrain bar and water we brought with us. We already used our two large water bottles and its only 1:00pm. It is very HUMID! We headed for Camp Minnie and Mickey. Yeah the characters are here but Alyssa wants nothing to do with them. So glad we purchased the autograph book this seems to break the ice. We buy chocolate ice cream for Alyssa $2.43 and line up for the 1:45 Lion King Show. I wound up eating this and spilling it on my white shirt. It looked just great. We waited 1/2 hour and were about the 10th people in line. We sat in the elephant section against the far wall. (If you need to make an exit its better to sit in the warthog or lion section both to your right on entering the arena.) The Monkey acrobats are our favorites both funny and entertaining. We also liked the flying birds. Alyssa especially like the hand jive and sing along our CM taught us while waiting. We sat in the 3rd row from the front on the end. Alyssa didn't get picked to join in the procession and was a bit disappointed. We purchased a Squeeze Breeze and a Rafiki figure $20.18 at the Lion King Cart. The breeze was a fan with a water bottle attached. Because it is so hot. We saw the 2:25 Pocahontas show. It was very short. The animals were cute this was about conservation. I missed the big production from '95 at MGM. We head over to the Tree of Life. No wait and we walked into the theater. Alyssa is crying already. She made it to the Spider throwing the poison darts so I exit and Glenn stays to finish the show. She was quite upset outside and we met two great Cm's. They talked to her and one of them hugged her and popped out the lenses of the 3D glasses for her to keep. The other one gave Alyssa some stickers. They saved the day and I didn't even get their names. These ladies were great and through out our trip we met many Cast Members who made are trip special. We took a quick bathroom break and another drink stop at Safari Popcorn Cart PowerAde and water $5.50. Now we're off to Asia. We caught the last Birds of Flight show. My daughter liked it but asked to go back to the hotel for about the 5th time today. I think between the travel, hotel room and her shoulder that she is having trouble adjusting. We push on to Dino Land and Tarzan Rocks. We walked right in for Tarzan Rocks no line no wait the place was maybe 30% full. We sat at the bar on the second level. Right before the monkeys' rolled out the breeze fan rolled off the bench and fell. I grabbed it or someone could have taken a bad spill. This is a cool show but so loud even for me. And guess what my daughter wanted to leave. I should of took the advice on line and gotten the ear plugs. We stayed for about 75% of the show. Glenn videotaped it and Turk even came over and shook his hand. Then we ride Dinosaur and did the kid swap. Glenn went first and then I rode. On my ride it was almost 5:00 so the jeep entered and everyone got to stay on the ride and I entered with another person. They got a double ride I wish it were me. We missed a few attractions but we'll revisit another day. Well its 5:10 time to go. We missed the bus but at least this stop is closer then the one at Epcot. We chatted with people from Pensacola at our stop and waited 15 minutes for a bus. Then we ate at the Cotton Mill Food Court $38.64. This included 2 refillable mugs we didn't get one for Alyssa since she drinks milk, water and juice. The mugs are good for soda, coffee and hot chocolate. Glenn had Chicken parmesan with pasta, salad and bread. It was just okay. I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad it was good. Alyssa had the chicken strip kids meal - this was her big meal of the day and she liked the food. We stopped at the front desk to check on Alyssa's lost hat and then headed for our room. While deciding to Swim first or go right to Epcot. A big storm rolled in thunder and pouring. So I give Alyssa a bath and get her ready for bed. Its 8:30 and the rain stopped. Glenn and Alyssa get to sleep and I took the bus to Downtown Disney Marketplace. (The boats aren't running due to the lightning). I shop around to buy some sleeveless shirts for Glenn and I. I purchased one for me and two for Glenn, some chocolate pretzels and socks for Alyssa $68.64. I did use my 10% off. Even in September bring sleeveless shirts it cost a fortune to buy them here from $16 - $24. Its pouring again so I duck into Ghiradelli for and Ice Cream Soda with whipped cream so delicious. I visited a few more stores. I love the Christmas store and need to stop back another time. I hopped the bus back just a five-minute wait. And was back around 11:15pm. I shower and pack the snack bags for tomorrow. Also charged the video battery. It's now 1:10am I got to go to bed. See ya! Saturday - Day Three:
Saturday, September 22, 2001 We we're up at 6:30am in the food court by 7:00am for Early entry at Magic Kingdom. Wow I was impressed we were all up and dressed even my 4yr old. This is a great feat for us since our days at home were not out of the house until 8:45. Ah the perks of working evenings. We filled our souvenir cups and toasted our own bagels. The food court had a toaster and microwave that was great perk. I used the microwave every day to heat my daughter's chocolate milk $2.01. FANTASYLAND We arrived with our stroller and bee lined down Main Street for Fantasyland. Alyssa vetoed Dumbo. But she rode the carousel twice, once with each of us. Then we were off to Snow Whites Adventure and Winnie the Pooh. She was scared on both. I couldn't smell the honey I'd heard about! Snack time, a cinnamon pretzel for Alyssa (she never ate it) and a coke for me about $5.00. I know it is only 8:30 but were on vacation. Next Its a Small World the first time we rode Alyssa covered her ears. Then the CM let us stay on for another ride since the ride was pretty empty. Alyssa loved it this time especially the Hula dancers. Peter Pan one of my favorites was next. Alyssa loved the moving sidewalk. This was not scary for her at last! LIBERTY SQUARE We walked by the Hall of Presidents and it was closed. We knew this but it was still a bummer. We took some pictures in the stockade too. FRONTIER LAND We asked the fast pass CM how to do the kid swap on Splash Mountain and we were told to all go in. My husband rode first and I took these special stairs over to the other side to wait. The CM on the microphone asked to help me. I said I'm waiting to do the kid swap. Well it appears its been changed one person rides and the other should wait in the little playground off to the side. They're mixed up and so am I. They told me I shouldn't have listened to the Fast Pass person. But they let me stay and wait to swap. We got Fast passes for Big Thunder 11:35 - 12:35 and took the Train ride around Magic Kingdom and returned for Big Thunder Mountain. Glenn rode first then I rode and the fast pass guy gave me a ticket to swap, so hubby got to ride again. About 1:15pm we stopped at first aid to get ear plugs we waited about 20 minutes before someone came back out. They were taking care of a women who seemed to be having a panic attack. We left the park and took the boat launch to the Wilderness Lodge for lunch. It was a nice ride. We walked around the resort and got inside just as it started pouring. This is a beautiful resort and the lobby is enormous. We ate at the Whispering Pines it was only about half full. Hubby had the Canyon Catch, I had the Marsh Chicken Sandwich and Alyssa had the Child's Chicken Finger total $39.74 with tip. The food was great the service quick and portions large. Also, Alyssa just loved the kid size sink in the ladies room. She even had me take a picture of it. This was a wonderful break and I always wanted to see this resort. We left and took the launch back to the Magic Kingdom around 2:30. We saw The Share a Dream Come True Parade on Main Street. It was beautiful all of the Snow Globes filled with Princesses and characters. The music is catchy too. ADVENTURELAND We headed right for the Jungle Cruise. The earplugs worked great! This is a cute attraction. Then the Pirates of the Caribbean we brought a small flashlight with and it worked great. There is a bit of a walk before the actual ride and it's a little dark. Alyssa like it except for the little drop down the dark hill. I had forgotten about this. Yeah! Aladdin is near the Magic Carpet ride and we got autographs and pictures. Alyssa used her Disney dollars to buy souvenirs. My friend Kim gave her this to spend at Disney. She purchased plastic figures of Pumba, Simba and Nala $9.54. The park is so much more crowded now. We walked to Frontierland and took the Train to Toon Town. Wow we were packed like sardines. TOON TOWN We visited Mickeys' House. Alyssa liked his bedroom and kitchen, which was a mess, too cute. Donald's Boat was open but without the water. We skipped the Barnstormer our daughter was not ready to brave that one yet. THIS IS TOO CROWDED FOR US! FANTASYLAND We stopped in Fantasyland to get a Hi 8 videotape since we left ours at home. It was $14.84 for a digital/hi 8 tape so don't forget yours! On our way to the parade we got to see Chip and Dale and Jafar for pictures and autographs. We also stopped to see Ariel around 6:30pm. This is a cute play area for the kids but slippery. Many kids fell while running and jumping on the pads that make noise. Alyssa slipped once and that was it! She kind of forgot about her shoulder until she fell. She liked the Grotto that Ariel was sitting in and the waterfall too. This is a great pictures spot. Around 6:55 we headed for the parade. Wow it's a mob scene already. People had been waiting since 6:15 but Glenn got a spot. When we split up someone was kind enough to give Alyssa a curbside spot. Then we waited and waited and waited for Spectromagic. We got cotton candy for Alyssa and a coke for me at Main Street Confectionery $5.47. It was Spectacular and not to be missed. Everything was lit up and all the streetlights were turned off. This was a favorite of ours. We tried to pick up our picture with Mickey but the line was about 30 people deep. So we just waited for the Fireworks. We watched from Main Street on the street between Casey's and the Plaza Ice Cream Shop. The fireworks were cool. And as we watched my four year old leaned over and said Mommy "this is the best trip ever thank you". I teared up because as a child I never got to come to WDW. I hope this is a memory she'll always treasure. I know I will. Afterwards we went right we thought we could get something to eat. But the Plaza Restaurant was closed. We tried to cross to Casey's for a hot dog but there was no way to cross the swarm of people who were exiting the park. I didn't like that feeling. Well we left and found our bus line. We waited about 20 minutes. When we boarded there were still tons of people waiting. There were only two nights for Fireworks during our trip so were had to be here. Alyssa fell asleep on the bus. So we put her to bed. Glenn and I took turns getting some dinner at the food court. Two slices of pizza and breadsticks total $12.17. I even met an old friend from work while I was there. I'm writing this at 11:30 p.m. while soaking my feet in Johnson's' Foot soak. This was a long day we left at 7 o'clock and returned at 10 o'clock. I fell asleep writing this report. I really wish we had brought the laptop with us. Sunday - Day four:
Sunday, September 23, 2001 Change of plans we didn't get the other harness yet so we won't do Typhoon Lagoon today. We'll go to MGM Studios. We had a late start today out around 8:00am and our priority seating is for 8:45am at the Yacht and Beach Club Cape May Café. We took the bus to MGM and the boat to the Yacht and Beach Club. We arrived at 9:15 and were seated within a few minutes. This is a repeat of '95. The servers were quick with drinks. The buffet was great with cereal, fruit, donuts, pastries and cinnamon buns on a hot fry pan. Cheese Blintzes, eggs, sausage, bacon. You name it. They even had a kid size buffet with small Mickey waffles. We ate slow and were there about an hour total $50.00 with tip. Goofy and Chip interacted great and we were there long enough to see them twice. We left and took the boat back to the MGM. Port Orleans Riverside/French Quarter Alyssa was really tired so I decided better to skip MGM and go back and relax at the hotel pool. It is no fun dragging a tired preschooler around the parks. We went to the Port Orleans Ol' Swimming Hole it wasn't crowded at all. The slide was fun and fast. After a while we took the boat to the French Quarter to check out the Dragon pool Doubloon Lagoon. French Quarter looks manicured and bright. There was music playing throughout the resort. They do have a very small food court. We purchased a cookie for Alyssa. ($1.05) But here you order pay and then pickup your food! We swam for a while this slide was really fun but not as fast as the one at Riverside. Alyssa loved this pool. There were Alligators under a huge clamshell that was a waterfall. We took the boat back! It was quick and fun. It was a good choice to just hang out at the hotel pools it was very relaxing and a break from the parks. Everyone got showered and dressed and left for Epcot. We waited 30 minutes for a bus. This was the first long bus wait but the driver drove fast. Our daughter fell asleep on the bus. It was good because the line to get into Epcot was very long. I did Cranium Command and then we headed for Norway to ride Maelstrom. We traded off. This required walking to the end of the ride to wait for my Husband. I waited in the inside-fishing village. Then when he returned I was escorted back to the ride loading. We watched the movie afterward. When we got outside the stroller was soaked. There had been a downpour. Next time well cover the stroller with a poncho. We then ate at China at the Lotus Blossom Café counter service. Alyssa ate her first meal of Chinese food. Sweet and sour chicken - she was hesitant but loved it. Glenn had Lotus Blossom combo and I had Pork fried rice and two drinks $18.92. We headed back to Norway. Glenn is looking for a pewter Viking. He had purchased one in '95. But no luck. Waited outside Norway for Illuminations. We were near a torch and it was just a bit hot. Considering the already humid weather. Glenn picked up some treats from the Kringla Bakery. Almond cookies, chocolate chunk and water $5.90. Illuminations was good although our view was a little obstructed by the torch stand. Afterwards we flew for the bus and waited about 10 minutes. Got Alyssa to bed and packed our lunch/snack bag for tomorrow. Monday - Day Five:
Monday, September 24, 2001 We were up and out at the bus stop today at 8:30am. Arrived at MGM about 8:50 and browsed Celebrity 5 & 10 and purchased a some post cards . Headed for the Tower of Terror and went inside like the CM directed us to. And again there was some confusion about switching off (kid swap). They escorted my daughter and I down an elevator to a waiting area near the picture Televisions to wait. Then I was escorted back when my husband finished riding. The CM stayed in character with a stern face. It freaked me out. At 9:30 we stopped at Starring Rolls for some breakfast. Purchased a bagel, muffin, coffee, chocolate milk and a soda for $8.50. Were off to Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey switching off again. We waited and played with the sound machines. We especially like the coconuts used to make hoof sounds to a movie. Star Tours was next on the list. This was the easiest kid swap we encountered. Everyone enters the Que. and while one-parent rides the other waits with the child. After the ride you get escorted first onto the ride and your child exits the other side with the other parent. Muppets 3D was next and Dad left the show with Alyssa this was too loud and intense for her. We got to visit with Buzz and Woody in front of Al's Toy Barn. Stopped off at a neat store called it's a Wonderful Shop and purchased two Christmas Ornaments $21.20. Wah Wah - no I don't wanna go - It's to dark. This was my husband's impression of Alyssa on our vacation so far. After four days he couldn't imagine this behavior for another eight days. So he left the park to go to Disney Quest and we stayed at MGM. He needed a break! It was good for everyone. We headed for Toy Story Pizza Planet its not as cool as the movie but a great place for some games and kid food. Snack time a pretzel and soda $5.50 but the pretzel was huge. Stopped at the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play Set. My daughter loved it here it was a great break to let her have fun and play and run off all that energy four year olds have. I hope I got some good pictures. The only thing that unnerved her was the bee sound and the dog sniffing. It gets pretty hot in here even with the fans running. We arrived for the 12:30pm Hunchback of Notre Dame show and walked in just as it started. We'd never seen the Disney movie but really enjoyed the show and the songs too. The Back Lot Tour was next I couldn't believe it my daughter wasn't afraid of Catastrophe Canyon! I must say the break did everyone well. I don't know how well I'd do on a trip with an injury but I think Alyssa was a trooper. All kids whine. I think she really had a reason. I purchase a Tinkerbell Astrolight for Alyssa it was only $3.00. I changed the batteries at least three times on this. Later I found out it was broken, it overheated at home and hit the trash. Well I called the hotel to see if our package had arrived and found out it did. But I had my husband's annual pass and he was stuck doing nothing at the hotel. He returned and we met at the front gate. Another coke for me at the Coffee Cart $2.49. We staked out a spot for the New Stars and Motorcars Parade. This was an exciting parade Ariel's car had a shell on it. Buzz and Woody's car was Andy's bed. This parade was not only fun but the cars were so cool. Not to be missed. While waiting for the parade in front of LA Cinema Storage we met Gracie a CM from Bayamon, PR. She was great she was playing with Alyssa asking her where her friend Tigger was she was trying to find him. It was a magical moment. Attended the 5:15 Beauty and the Beast Show. It was excellent! We headed for our P.S. at Sci-Fi Diner. It took a few minutes to be seated and it was only about 1/3 full. Service was very slow and then someone toppled Glenn's dinner. So they remade it while we ate. The food was mediocre but the atmosphere was neat and the movies were kind of funny to watch. The bill was $53.29 including the tip. I would not eat here again. As we left the theater and walked down the hall there was a huge Palmetto Bug dead on the floor. The bathrooms were horrible too. Ugh Gross. This meal was not worth the money. Rode the Great Movie Ride. Stopped to purchase another digital/hi-8 tape for $14.84. I could kick myself for forgetting these. Next we headed for Fantasmic. This Arena is huge. The only seating available was all the way to the left. So we stood by the rope on the right. These seats were for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. Then we went and stood behind the Witch section on the far right. The CM told us we could sit when the lights went out. We did and these were great seats in the Witch section. This show is awesome. We loved the music, dream sequence and all the boats lit up with the characters. The whole thing and we will return to see this again. We left about a minute before the show was over. We went down a back road that joined traffic back on Hollywood Blvd. We flew to the buses and caught the first bus back to our resort. Yeah we went swimming and in the Jacuzzi. Showered and went to bed. Tuesday - Day Six:
Tuesday, September 25, 2001 We have the extra harness. So today is Typhoon Lagoon Day. We slept in and ate at the Hotel Food Court. I had pancakes, Alyssa had cereal and chocolate milk. I shared my pancakes with Alyssa too. Glenn had a breakfast sandwich about $13.00. Then caught the bus to Typhoon Lagoon. We arrived about 9:50 and we waited in line. Alyssa had to use the bathroom. Since the park wasn't opened yet. We had to walk through the Miniature Golf course to use the bathroom. It was a long walk to use a bathroom and it was deserted here. While here Alyssa finished up and left. I thought I heard the door slam then I came out couldn't find her. There was a CM there by now opening up and I told him I had a lost child. Well, maybe a lost parent. I looked all over and then ran back to tell Glenn. There was Alyssa with Daddy. I was glad she was safe but I was so upset that she took off. We did have a chat! We'll be sharing a bathroom from now on this trip. I bought Aqua shoes for Alyssa at Singapore Sal's for $12.72. We could not find these at home since September is not the season in Pennsylvania. The weather was a little overcast but cleared at about 11:00am. We staked out spots with our towels and stuff at Ketchakiddie Creek under a pavilion. Alyssa loved this water park especially the tube ride. The kids area is neat with waterfalls, big water guns, body slides and kids tubes. We rode the Family Slide three times in a row since there was no line. The raft is heavy to carry or roll up the stairs. We traded off on some rides that had height requirements or were a bit rough. The slides to the left of the Wave pool were great for kids. You just need to watch when the waves are coming there is a strong current. So be there to grab your little ones. We ate at the Leaning Palms. Chicken wrap combo for Glenn and Pizza with salad combo for Alyssa and I to split with three drinks $19.51. The birds were all over looking for food. Some people even fed them too. We rode the lazy river too. We bought a Sorcerer Beach Towel and gummy worms $23.85. We bought an adorable photo of Alyssa on a tube ride. The photo and frame were $32.81 priceless. Everyone had a great day. We returned to the hotel and showered. We couldn't decide what to do for dinner. We finally decided Chef Mickeys and got a 7:15 P.S. We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and then the Monorail to the Contemporary. We were seated quickly in the back area. Behind the buffet we were close to the kitchen and the buffet. There was a good selection of food and a lot going on in this place. The music played and everyone danced with their napkins when Chef Mickey came around. The characters came around a few times Chip and Dale, Mickey and Minnie as we didn't leave until 9:00pm $65.09 with tip. We met a couple from Portsmouth, England and their daughter Madison. The girls had fun dancing together. We saw this family at least two more times before our vacation was over. They were here for one month. We took the bus to Downtown Disney and transferred to our Port Orleans bus. Wednesday - Day Seven:
Wednesday, September 26, 2001 I was up and headed to the Cotton Mill Food Court and picked up milk, cereal and muffin. My daughter enjoyed watching TV Dragon Tails and eating breakfast in the hotel room. We left about 9:00am for Magic Kingdom. We arrived to a Character Bonanza! Jasmine & Aladdin, Suzy the mouse (Cinderella), Friar Tuck, and Meeko all at the beginning of Main Street U.S.A. We did get autographs and pictures of all. Including a picture with Jasmine and Aladdin together! Bonus!! We enjoyed the murals in the castle these are beautiful. Take a few minutes to see these, the story of how they were made is interesting. Fantasyland We rode Dumbo twice, Lion King Show, rode it's a Small World. I got Fast Passes for Space Mountain 12:20 - 1:20. While my husband and daughter rode Dumbo Again. Tomorrowland We switched off on Space Mountain. Lunch at the Pavilion. We had 2 pizza/breadstick and 1 chicken with fries meal with drinks $25.59. This was expensive for yucky food! The pizza was a little undercooked. Switched off Alien Encounter. This took a while waiting outside then the pre-show and the actual show. This is great but way too scary and intense for a four-year-old. Many kids around me were crying. They were around six to eight years old. We switched off on Buzz Light Year and I beat my husbands score. So he had to go back in again and beat mine. Boy he is just a little too competitive. I finally got to buy a Mickey Mouse Camera Strap and Alyssa got a glitter bracelet at the Merchant of Venice $18.02. Fantasyland Back to Fantasyland to ride Dumbo again! Then we went to Belle's Story time in the Fairytale Garden. Belle and her attendant's invited children up to be characters in the story and a Dad to be the Beast. This is a small area so arrive earlier to get a seat. You can also sit on the ramp to the right. Belle comes to this area to greet the children after the story and does autographs too! This is a great time to relax and I highly recommend it. Alyssa's face was just pure magic. She loved this and meeting Belle. Beauty And The Beast is her favorite story. We stopped at The Town Square Exposition Hall to look at our Photos from 9/22/01. We purchased a 5x7 with wallets $17.97. We left and took the Monorail to the Polynesian. We walked around and checked out the hotel and the new pool. I loved the new pool it was beautiful. I would love to stay here again. The atmosphere is very tropical and relaxing. We went to the Neverland Kids Club to look around and talk to the Club Staff. This was really neat! The kids get to climb stairs through a window to enter the club. Alyssa liked it here. There were toys to play with and a room with computers. Also a television and viewing area. There was a buffet set up for dinner. It requires reservations and was $8.00 an hour. I would use this if we were having an adult dinner at the Polynesian or another Monorail hotel. We Didn't use this but would another time. My husband did some pin shopping in the Ceremonial house at the pin cart. He got the two different 100 Years pins $20.14. Alyssa got a Dumbo Ride die cast car in Trader Jack's these are cute $6.36. Then we caught the bus to MGM. This bus also stopped at the Grand Floridian. MGM Studios We saw The Little Mermaid. This is a great place to cool off too. You get misted with water. My husband did the Animation Tour it takes about 40 minutes. We headed to Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey. We played in the area with the coconuts that make horse sounds. This is a favorite of our little one. We got seats at 7:15 for Fantasmic. I left and got our dinner. Sports drink and a chicken wrap, soda, pretzel and a hot dog for $19.25. We sat in the Pocahontas section on the right. We later realized that we had an obstructed view we were up top but were directly in front of a roof support. This is not a good seat for video taping or picture taking. We took the bus back to the hotel. This was very quick tonight. We stopped at the food court for a pizza slice and fries for Alyssa ($6.34). We took a swim in the pool for a little while. Bathed Alyssa and she was in bed by 11:00 p.m. We are trying to be flexible and still do everything we wanted to fit in to our vacation. My husband told me he was shocked that I wasn't touring commando style. It is always good to surprise your husband after 14 years of marriage. Thursday - Day Eight:
Thursday, September 27, 2001 Princess Breakfast It's pouring today so Blizzard Beach is off. We were out early this morning at 7:10 and took the bus to Magic Kingdom for Breakfast with the Princesses at 8:00 a.m. The castle is absolutely one of my favorites and is so magical. Alyssa wore her Cinderella costume from Halloween last year. She was so excited she could barely eat her food. Everyone including our server would say Good Morning Princess! How are you today, Princess? Alyssa was all smiles at breakfast. We got to see Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Mary Poppins and Aurora Sleeping Beauty. They each spent time taking to Alyssa and signing her autograph book and pictures. They called her princess and told her how beautiful she looked. Snow White and Cinderella took a picture together with Alyssa. This breakfast and the memories are priceless! The cost was $43.31 - $50.31 including tip. It was pre-plated but they brought out extra of anything you wanted. This is a favorite for Alyssa and us too! Be sure to make these reservations 60 days in advance. We also took pictures outside the castle at the Cinderella fountain. She changed in the bathroom inside the castle. The Cm's at the castle held the costume for us so we could enjoy the park. This is hand made and very big a copy of Cinderella's with satin and all. We saw someone getting a card with a beautiful picture of Cinderella and the prince on a stained glass window. They actually use these to put your reservation information on. I got one to use in my scrapbook. They did cover the Priority seating information with a sticker. I guess so you can't forge your own seating! Fantasyland We rode Dumbo, Cinderella's Golden Carousel, Pooh and Snow White. The sun came out but we decided to just stay here. Dumbo again, It's a Small World. I went back to Main Street to get Alyssa something to eat. She was so excited she really didn't eat her breakfast. I bought chocolate milk and a muffin for her. Tomorrowland My husband got Fast Passes for Space Mountain while I got the food. A coke, chocolate milk, cinnamon roll and chocolate chip muffin $$9.60 at the Bakery on Main Street. We switched off on Space Mountain. Got some more character autographs and went on the Carousel of Progress. Alyssa really loved this attraction. (Now it's permanently closed). We listened to the Tomorrowland Band it was fun and entertaining. All the kids were dancing. We stopped at the Castle to pick up Alyssa's Dress and head to Main Street for the Parade. In Center Wrap on Main Street a CM Steve C. held Alyssa's Dress for us. They even let Alyssa change in the dressing room. He was wonderful and very helpful. Dad got a Grand Slam and a coke at Casey's Corner $6.24. We watched the parade and Alyssa was invited to go out with the characters but declined. After the parade she changed and we headed back to the hotel. It was really hot. Surprise. We changed for the pool and found the floor was soaked. Near the sink and the wall along the closet. Thank goodness the luggage was there and only the wheels were wet. We called housekeeping and it took them 1 /12 hours for Engineering to show up. Our room was an end unit and I suspect the heavy ran this morning leaked in. Well the engineer couldn't find a leak anywhere! Go figure. We had thrown in some wash while we waited. Rachel the Manager switched our room to the Mansions Building 95 Parterre Place room 9739 2nd floor and upgraded us to a Water View 2nd floor. It was a little crazy packing up everything and 3 bags of semi-dry laundry. The bellhop came to transport us and, it was like a ride, he drove a little crazy. But we unpacked everything and got dressed. I really like this room better then the Bayou Rooms. They are much brighter but still the same size. The outside is very bright and manicured. We have a great view of the Sassagoula River. This is a great location and close to everything. We took the boat to Downtown Disney. This is a charming ride. Downtown Disney We looked around for a place to eat. There seem to be a lot of expensive Restaurants here. So we ate at McDonald's, boy did that food taste great. I normally don't like McD's but it was a nice change from the parks $12.38. I stopped in World of Disney and purchased a Tinkerbell Princess top for Alyssa and a gray sweatshirt for me $62.97 after 10% discount. I had seen this Tinkerbell shirt in the Contemporary but waited to get my Discount here. We took the boat to the West Side to Disney Quest. I did get a pass for Alyssa for her stroller. This is the only time we did this but she was real tired and her shoulder was hurting. By the time we got the pass she had fallen asleep anyway. We went through Security and got on the elevator to Disney Quest. Well it was very loud and shaking and Alyssa woke up. I didn't stay long because she was so tired. I talked Glenn into staying since he really wanted to explore Disney Quest. So I hopped the boat back to Downtown Disney and just made it off one boat and in the line for the last boat back to the Port Orleans. I was the last person and they held the rope and then they let me on. Good thing we brought coats/sweaters with because it was a beautiful ride but a bit chilly. I got my sleeping girl back to the hotel and in bed. I was like a weight lifter, I carried her in the stroller up to the second floor and put her to bed in her clothes. Well I just finished my report and I'm off to bed. Friday - Day Nine:
Friday, September 28, 2001 Woke up late today 8:40am. I collected the wash hung in our room from last night and headed for the dryers. Then we ate at the Riverside Mill Food Court. We had bagel and whole fruit, bacon egg & cheese sandwich and chocolate milk $10.77. Came back and folded and put away the wash. We took the bus to the Animal Kingdom to finish up a few attractions and revisit a few favorites. We made reservations for the Rain Forest Café at 2:45. Then we headed toward the Tree of Life. It is just as awesome as the first time you see it. I went on Bugs life since I had to exit early with the little one last time. Then we headed for Camp Mickey and Minnie. We got autographs and pictures of Goofy and Pluto. The CM at the cart here was very helpful. He helped us to change our reservations at the Rain Forest. So we could see the parade. He made about four phone calls and was just great. We went to the 12:15pm show Festival of the Lion King Show. This is an awesome show! Our second time this trip. Alyssa got a passport and got it stamped at the log near Camp Mickey and Minnie. She had to guess what was inside of a log. A pinecone, a turtle shell, etc. This was a cute activity. Next we headed for Harambe and got Fast Passes for the Safari. We walked the Pangani Trail and got some great pictures. This was very crowded near the primates. We returned and used our F.P. for the Safari. We headed for Asia. This is a great spot to get pictures of the Tree of Life from the rear. Got F.P. for Kali River Rapids and headed to Dino Land. We hung out at the Dig Site until almost 3:00pm. Then we headed for the Parade. We sat at the end of the exit of Dino Land. These were good seats for the parade. It was real hot today. Everyone who had ice cream was in a race to eat the melting, drippy mess. The parade was very loud. There were some neat animal puppets. This was an unusual but kind of cool. After the parade ended we were going to Asia for our F.P. But the parade was heading the same way across the bridge to Asia. We made our way through the crowd. Used our fast passes trading off. My hubby got a little wet. But I was soaked. I did purchase a Tiger towel at the Maharaja Cart $21.20 to dry off. We stopped at guest services to tell them about the special CM. I later read that I should of put this in writing. We hustled to the Rain Forest Café for our 4:15 reservation a little late. We were seated near the elephant and Alyssa was really afraid. We asked to be moved and the hostess huffed and walked off. We were told that the waterfall section was closed and we couldn't sit there. Then we were told to take our stroller outside (we were given a hard time about this even though other tables had strollers too!). We almost packed up and left at this point. Glenn had the Chicken Club with fries. I had the Crab cake sandwich with a side salad, Kid Pizza for Alyssa and three drinks $56.00. The food was okay but the service stunk! This meal cost as much as a Character Meal. This was not as fun. By the way they did seat people in the Waterfall area. I was fuming by this time and couldn't wait to eat and leave. I also was freezing from the air conditioning. I was still wet from Kali River Rapids We purchased another Digital/Hi 8 Videotape $14.84, again. We left at 5:40p.m. And took the bus to MGM. We stopped to check out the pictures we had taken on last Monday and passed because they weren't very good. Then we headed for the RR Roller Coaster there was a 45-minute wait so we passed. We stopped for treats at Beverly Sunset. We got 2 chocolate Mickey Pretzels for Alyssa. A Caramel Chocolate Heath Bar Apple for me and an Island Chiller for the Hubby $10.64. We ordered a black Lanyard to be embroidered with Alyssa's name in pink and be delivered to our hotel on Sunday from the Celebrity 5 & 10. We heard anyone with an annual pass was being given a special 100 years Lanyard over at the ABC Studio. So we headed over and we all got the special Lanyards and a collector's card. The CM was very sweet and gave Alyssa a Belle card and Beast. We returned to the hotel and changed into our bathing suits. We took the boat to the French Quarter for a swim. This was one of Alyssa's favorite things - swimming. We returned at 9:10 got Alyssa bathed and in bed. I got to eat 1/2 my yummy apple and wrote my report. Saturday - Day Ten:
Saturday, September 29, 2001 We had a change of plans today were heading to Blizzard Beach since it rained the other day. We had breakfast at our resort in the Riverside Mill. I had the French Toast Combo, a coffee and bagel for Glenn and chocolate milk and muffin for Alyssa $13.10. We caught the bus 9:45 to Blizzard Beach. The temperature was 79( and the water was 80(. It drizzled throughout the day and it was a bit chilly but we stayed until 3:00pm. We rode all the attractions some numerous times. The Family Raft ride Teamboat Springs in billed as the World's longest. This is the best family ride we laughed all the way down. It was a really long and fun ride. We rode this about five times. We talked to some Cm's here and found out the park capacity is 6,500 people and that day there was only 1,000 people. This was great for us since there were no lines or waiting. Cross County Creek was a neat version of a lazy river. The water in the cave was freezing cold too. We hung out in Melt Away Bay. The water is pretty calm you can just bob around. We had lunch at Lottawatta Lodge. Hubby got the foot long combo, the chicken wrap combo for me and Kids chicken strip meal for Alyssa $19.76. The chicken wrap was fantastic. We sat in the Tikes Peak children's area. Alyssa loved this place there was a tube ride. She rode when we first arrived about 6 times and the Cm's were very playful with the kids. Spinning them around and helping them out. She thought the body slide was cool and fast. At the top of Tikes Peak there is an area with about four different slide options for the little ones. The theme here is too cute. We purchased a t-shirt for our son at Beach Haus $19.08. I had to wear my cover up in the water as my bathing suit decided to wear through at the park. And the suits were around $80. So I purchased a cover up to wear on the bus and another souvenir $27.03. We headed back to the hotel a bit chilled. Showered and dressed for our 5:30 p.m. P.S. at Crystal Palace. We hoped the bus to the Magic Kingdom. This is a beautiful place. We were seated to the left when you enter the restaurant. Our tables faced the Windows it was a great spot for the view and the characters. Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet were the characters and were very attentive. We did some parents pushing their kids to see them. Well actually it was the same Dad every time. But the characters were great about seeing all the kids and adults at all the tables. My daughter just adored the children's mini food station. Serving herself was a big hit. There was a big variety of salad and foods here for adults too. The Kids food station had chicken, pizza, and macaroni and cheese. Also bread to make PB&J Sandwiches $66.11 with tip. We stopped at Columbia Harbor House to get water $2.50. We stayed to watch Tinkerbell's flight and the fireworks. This time we were on the right side of the castle. Tinkerbell didn't fly tonight, because of the wind we guess, but we did see the fireworks. We also rode Dumbo in the dark. It was neat to do this at night vs. daytime. We head back to the hotel. A little snack for Glenn Bravo Nachos at the Food Court $1.48. Sunday - Day Eleven:
Sunday, September 30, 2001 We missed our reservations last Monday so we rescheduled for 8:30 am today at the Grand Floridian 1900 Park Fare. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Mary Poppins was greeting the children in the waiting area near the kid's spot with the television. The characters at breakfast were - Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, Pinocchio and Geppetto. The food was excellent a great variety for breakfast. The little kids buffet we found later. There were waffles, pancakes, French toast sticks, chocolate pizza or chocolate pastry. (This was a little bitter). Also donut holes fruit and yogurt and of course Alyssa loved the little donut holes. The characters were very attentive and came around a few times the restaurant was only about half full $53.49. The lobby here is beautiful. We got our stroller and left for the Bus Stop to MGM. This is the most beautiful bus stop we've seen. So bright with white benches to sit on and a television to watch while you wait. Oh no I realized that I had taken someone's stroller that looked exactly like mine except the foot strap was broken on ours. I rushed back in to get my stroller. I took a short cut back through the Patio. I exchanged stroller and I ran back to the bus stop. I found out that my daughter left and was chasing me and my husband let her go. UGH! Dads! MY WORST FEAR A LOST CHILD, again. I ran back to 1900 Park Fare I was in a panic. I finally found her and was telling her, never to leave her parents again, that she really scared me. Everyone was watching who didn't have kids. Guess you need to lose your four- year- old to know what that feels like. Well needless to say she was buckled in her stroller today. Well we finally got to MGM. We did Tower of Terror first doing the kid swap. I rode first and waited with Alyssa in the gift shop. It was quick no wait. Drink stop at the Turkey Cart $4.93 for a coke and water. My hubby got a F.P. for Millionaire. We all went to see the Little Mermaid. Then hubby went to Millionaire while we went to Disney Playhouse. What a really cute show the kids got to dance along with Blue, Tutter, and friends. The host told three stories with Stanley, Rollie Pollie and Pooh. Helping Tutter overcome his shyness about dancing. The kids got to dance and interact too. Everyone sits on the floor and it was a little hard to see the characters on stage. But this is worth it. We waited for hubby. Even though his Fast Pass was 1:10 -1:20 the show didn't start until 1:30. He lined up at 1:00 and got done about 2:30pm. I don't think this F.P. was worth it for Millionaire. We hustled over to the Hunchback show and missed the first few minutes. A battery stop for Tinkerbell $3.45 for AA2 pack. Were out of film and I brought 16 rolls and two water cameras. At the Studio Prop shop I got 35mm 400 speed film 4 pack for $18.01. I did get a free disposable camera too. We had lunch at Toy Story Planet. Hey its pizza, again. We did the Back Lot show. Popcorn for a snack $2.50. Shopping time at Celebrity 5 & 10 for my husband the pin man. He bought six pins Little Mermaid, Snow White, Cinderella, and Tinker Bell for Alyssa. And two other pins $41.34. I also got my daughter an Alyssa pin $6.89. Drink break at Anaheim Produce water and coke $5.00. We went to the 5:15 Beauty and the Beast Show. We were at the rope-drop 6:00 p.m. for the Fantasmic Show. We sat in the Mickey Section smack in the middle in the front row by the gate. We wanted great seats to videotape. After we got our seats I ran out to get dinner for everyone. At Sunset Ranch I got two chicken strip kids meals for Alyssa and me. The Arena was filled by 7:00. We ate and the show started at 8:00p.m. We were told that we might get a little wet because of the wind. We said okay. Boy that was an understatement we got soaked. Bring a poncho if you sit up close the spray isn't bad but if the wind keeps up you are pretty wet by the end. A great show! We saw this one 3x's on our trip. Magical! We stopped at the Embroidery shop to pick up a sweatshirt with Belle and the Beast and Alyssa's name embroidered. We ordered it earlier in the day. We thought about heading over to the Boardwalk but decided it would take too long to return to the hotel from here. Alyssa was tired tonight and tomorrow would be a long day. We went back to the hotel and I got her ready for bed. Glenn packed while I went to Fulton's to pick up a package. I remember they used to deliver your packages to your room in 1995. Then headed for Downtown Disney to finish a little shopping. I had the slowest driver he even waited at bus stops that were empty. I got downtown at 10:10p.m. and shopped in World of Disney. I had been spying plaid Christmas pajamas with Minnie and a bear on them for Alyssa and I that match. So I bought them and a 2001 Shirt for my Mom $83 with 10% discount. I bought a WDW shopping bag $2.65 but these are huge and sturdy. Then I went back to the hotel and packed up. I also finished the last of my yummy apple. I called luggage service to arrange for our pick up tomorrow morning. Monday - Day Twelve:
Monday, October 1, 2001 We used express check out and our bill was on the door this morning. We left our luggage to be picked up in our room. We headed out at 7:30 this morning without breakfast. Alyssa had a Nutrigrain bar. When we arrived the 100 Years of Magic Sign made of greens was covered with flowers today. There was also a Stand set up at the beginning of Main Street for the Official Start of the 100 Years of Magic ceremony. We went straight to Fantasyland and rode our favorites again. Dumbo, Peter Pans Flight, Snow White, Cinderella's Golden Carousel, Winnie the Pooh and it's a small world. At Pooh's Thotful Shop we got a Hunny Pot die cast toy. My hubby is a bear when he's hungry. So we split up. He ate at Cosmic Ray's Double Cheese with fries and soda $8.99. The burgers and chicken here is real good. Better then the food at Plaza Pavilion. I headed to Tony's Town Square only to find out they no longer serve breakfast effective as of 9/30/01. The bakery lines are mobbed on Main Street. I talked Alyssa into riding Pirates with me. So we did pirates of the Caribbean. We had lunch at the Columbia Harbor House. We shared Chicken Strips, fries and lemonade $8.36. This was a good meal and a quiet place. We stopped at Tinker Bell's Treasures and purchased a Mickey Mouse Sorcerer $11.66. He is too cute. We went to Tomorrowland and waited about an hour to ride the Grand Prix. Some VIP's were sent right to the front of the line. We caught up with hubby here. He had seen Cinderella's Surprise Celebration at the castle. He enjoyed it and said there were many characters here. Time for a drink break soda and water $4.93. We did the Carousel again. Alyssa loves this ride and was singing to the music. We finished up souvenir Fantasy Faire for postcards $3.18. The Emporium Complex for pins, postcards and a little crystal Mickey ring for Alyssa $32.12. We took the bus back to our resort. We stopped at Fulton's for more last minute gifts. Hubby got some collectors cards, Chocolate coins for Alyssa, a tree ornament, a Mickey Tote bag for my neighbor who cat sat and chocolates for my mother-in-law $75.74. Journey Home We waited for Tiffany Town Car. They were a little late and we had a different driver on return. We checked in inside which took a little while. Then we headed for our flight. Guess what the flight is overbooked so we volunteered to be bumped if necessary. They told us to still board the flight. They'll call us if needed. They only needed one person and they got a volunteer. Well we didn't get bumped or get free tickets. Boo Hoo! We were in the last seat on the plane. This was really uncomfortable since these seats don't recline. We decided to check Alyssa's car seat. Big mistake it was a long day and she was tired and kept undoing her seatbelt. I think she got the record for the most bathroom visits in one flight. Well we made it back to Philadelphia got out luggage and called for our car. A quick stop at Sbarro's Pizza in the airport. After loading the van and heading back to Pacifico Valet to pay. We headed home. We were home by about 10:30pm. We unpacked and my hubby even started the wash. Everyone fell into Bed. About a week after our return I mailed all the soaps and shampoos from WDW to Dotti's Mickey SOS. I read about this on WDWIG. She puts together gift sets and gives them to children who are very ill in the hospital. These kids love the Disney Soaps and shampoos in them. This helps to brighten their day. Mickey really can bring a smile! Trip in Review We had a great trip. We met many wonderful people and helpful and friendly Cast Members. We're so glad we decided to go. We had a chance to talk to many people from the United States and abroad. They were wonderful. Everyone seemed to feel the same about the horrific events of September 11th and how the spirit of people is amazing under these unbelievable circumstances. Its amazing how many people were touched by these events. Many people were wearing flag pins, Mickey flag pins and shirts. Showing their spirit. Port Orleans Resort

Things we missed
Next time we'll bring our own water, juice and snacks with us. I won't forget the digital tapes or sleeveless shirts. Finally in closing be flexible with your schedule and be willing to change things around. You'll have a better time. I can't wait to go back! To a place where my four-year-old can be a princess, an animal tracker, dig up dinosaur bones, dance and have breakfast with her favorite characters, swim in an Ol' Swimming Hole or slide down a dragons tongue. Go on a Safari. Meet people from other countries. Swim in a Blizzard or a Typhoon and to see the magic through her eyes. Thanks for reading my report. It is so detailed that I hope I haven't bored anyone. If you have any questions, please e-mail me. Jeneice Seagraves JCSTUPP@AOL.COM Mail a Comment to Jeneice Seagraves |
