Ron and Marie -- May 2002 -- Walt Disney World (WL)

5/9 - 5/20

We spent 11 nights at the Wilderness Lodge. Alexis absolutely loved every part of our trip. We were a little worried on how an 18 month old would act on the rides but she absolutely loved every one. Her favorite was in no doubt the Winnie the Pooh attraction in the Magic Kingdom. We made sure we took a couple of trips to MGM to see the Playhouse Disney attraction also. She went absolutely nuts when her favorite character of all time came out (Bear in the Big Blue House).

We did all of our normal dinners (Coral Reef, California Grill, Artist Point, Rainforest Cafe, Yachtman Steakhouse, Chef Mickey's, Tony's, San Angel Inn in Mexico in EPCOT, Cinderella's Castle, and a new one at Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge). Marie and I also treated ourselves to one night on our anniversary to Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian. If anyone wants any tips on dining feel free to ask (I think we have eat at almost every restaurant on the property).

We also got to meet some of our trivia list members in some of the parks (that was a real treat). We also did a couple of character meals (Chef Mickey's breakfast and dinner and 1900 Park Fair in the GF for a breakfast).

On the night we went to V&A, we used the in room baby sitting service called "Kid's Night out". We were a little nervous at first but the woman who showed up was an elderly woman and she made us feel very comfortable right away. She made sure she was familiar with all of Alexis's likes and dislikes and she showed us all of her credentials and told us her qualifications. She also asked if it was OK to take Alexis outside and play and we agreed. When we got back from dinner (Around 10pm) Alexis was crashed out in bed and we were given a full report on what she did while we were out (outside running, playing ball and feeding the ducks).

We treated ourselves that night at V&A by doing the wine pairing for dinner. With this, they bring out a different wine with each course of your meal. It was great and definitely worth the extra $$$ to treat ourselves on that one night. We took the train this time and got a little surprise on the way home. When we got to the train station we found out our train was delayed about 2 hours.

While waiting, we met a reporter and camera man from the ABC news station in Orlando. They were doing an investigative report on train travel and security and they were getting on our train. They interviewed us before getting on the train and during the trip. My aunt lives in Florida and she saw it on TV last night and taped it for us. She said we were on for a long time and they showed Alexis running up and down the aisle of the train. We cant wait to see it.

So to sum it all up we had a great trip and can't wait to go back. We are a little excited because we got annual passes for Six Flags which is only about 30 minutes from our house but it's not Disney.
