Comments: Barb's report is very short, less than one page, but has some information that is useful to anyone that is planning a trip. The report was originally just an email message to me, but Barb granted permission to add it to the trip report list. Major lesson learned was that four and a half days is NOT enough time for visiting WDW...

Dear Brian,

It's been a long time since I've e-mailed you, but thought I'd let you know that using your net page did help alot during our trip to Disney World. Remember me? I'm the one who knew your sister Karen in Glennallen (Alaska!).

Introduction

We were at WDW from May 29 to June 2. We arrived by plane and found that a taxi was slightly cheaper than the Mears transportation and we had a great taxi driver, very helpful. My Dad, from PA, met us on our third day at the All Star Sports. Again, we were impressed with the Disney hospitality. They allowed me to just enter my Dad on our reservation and let him share our room with no added cost. I am 45 and have been to WDW twice before, but both trips were before EPCOT and MGM -- 1974 and 1981. My daughter is 14 and son is 12. It was their first trip.

Anyway, here's a short report:

Number one lesson learned-you need more than four and a half days. We were just too rushed to "stop and smell the flowers". We did love staying at the All Star Sports. Through your trip reports I knew what building to request and we had a great quiet room right near the Food Court. The kids loved eating at the Food Court. It was never crowded and had the most reasonable prices. We, too, learned that the store even beat the prices there. For example, we could buy doughnuts and juice at the store for about half the price at the Food Court.

We loved the bus system, never having to wait too long. Again, I have to agree with others that we met the nicest people on the buses. Only Ugly American experience was a twenty something drunk girl who rudely let everyone know that the bus trip was too long. Who can guess?

We covered lots of territory in those four and a half days-Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, MK, EPCOT, MGM, Discovery Island, Marketplace, Boardwalk.

My two favorite times were #1 - A Sunday afternoon after a thunder storm at Blizzard Beach with my 12 year old son. No crowds, no heat, just lots of fun and exercise climbing stairs. One CM I talked with said that this was totally exceptional - they call the place Blister Beach and people wait for an hour for some of the slides. #2 - that same evening at EPCOT with my 14 year old daughter (son stayed back at room to watch NBA playoffs). Again no crowds, dinner at the Chinese pavilion and just a relaxing walk around the WS.

The rest of the time was crowded, hot, and hectic. The kids much preferred the four day cruise to the Bahamas the week before. I want to go again-this time in mid November or February for at least a week.

Thanks again for all your helpful tips.
