Trip Report

Disney World Vacation

Orlando, FL

October 10 - 19, 1997

MOM'S NOTE: Kevin is ten years old and is in the fourth grade. Kevin is very bright and in the gifted program at his school. Kevin also has Attention Deficit Disorder. He is on medication and with the medication took the trip very well. However, I could tell when his medication wore off. I would not consider taking him off medication for a vacation such as WDW with all of the stimuli around that place.

Friday October 10, 1997

Hi class, its me Kevin. Its around 12:00 Eastern. The flight went great. In the airplane instead of looking up at the clouds we were looking down at the clouds. All the buildings looked very small from the airplane.

The airport we landed at was very organized. We were off the airplane, ready and on our way in 15 minutes.

Our hotel room is pretty small. Our hotel number is 9351. We are in the All-Star Sport Resort hotel. In our hotel we have two, two person beds, one bathroom, one tub, and one closet.

Everything here is expensive but not too expensive. Today I bought the animal from Lion King and it cost about $27.92 (that's the price with tax). For dinner I had a chili dog. I didn't like it very much.

Saturday October 11, 1997

Today when we got up we got dressed and went to breakfast. For breakfast I had a bagel and cream cheese.

After breakfast we went to the video arcade for about 10 minutes while we waited for mom. Then we went and waited for the bus to EPCOT.

At EPCOT we did some neat stuff. We got to do Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Imagination ride, we also went through this thing were you go to different countries, The replicas of the country they make are fake.

At dinner we went to the Polynesian Luau. There , there was dancers and we took a lot of pictures there. We had some very good food. We had rice, barbecue pork, beef, fish, chicken, and noodles.

So far the most fun thing I had done today is the Polynesian Luau. At dinner on the show there was this one guy that was twirling sticks of fire.

Sunday October 12, 1997

Today when we got up we got dressed and went to breakfast. The place we went to breakfast at was called Crystal Palace. At Crystal Palace all the Disney characters there was Tiger, Eyeore, and Pooh Bear. They were going around to all the tables. They were giving autographs and getting pictures with people.

After breakfast we went to Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. We did Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and some other rides. For dinner we went to this place called Pecos Bill Saloon. We had hamburgers there and fries.

Monday October 13, 1997

Today for breakfast we went to the Food Court. At the Food Court I had cereal, some fruit, and chocolate milk.

Once we got done with breakfast we went to MGM Studious. There we went to Muppet Vision 3-D. Muppet Vision 3-D is a show that puts things right in front of your face. The thing I think was neat about it was that it wasn't all flat, like a regular movie would be.

We also did the Great Movie Ride. The Great Movie Ride is where you go through time sort kinda and see some old time movies. The movies go all the way back to the thirties and to the top movies of today. One of the other rides we did was the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The Tower of Terror is the gateway into the Twilight Zone. On the ride you drop thirteen floors (from the top of the tower to the basement.)

We saw a musical of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was real good. There was a lot of singing on the show.

We also did a behind the scenes tour of 101 Dalmatians. We saw how they trained the dogs. They also showed us some of the scene sets For dinner we went to Planet Hollywood which is in Pleasure Island. At Planet Hollywood they had some good food. They also had some of the original things they used in some of the movies like Dorothy's Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz., and the horse Mary Poppins rode in the movie Mary Poppins.

Tuesday October 14, 1997

Today we went to Blizzard Beach. At Blizzard Beach there is a lot of fun rides and water slides. There was Summit Plummet. Summit Plummet we didn't go on but I can tell you about it. This particular ride makes you go down on your back with your arms crossed. It has a very long drop. Another thing that was there was the Kids Ski Training Camp. There was some neat stuff to do. Like on Thin Ice Crossing. That's were you have a net above you and you have Icebergs connected to strings. There also was Cool Runnings. On this ride you have a tube and you go down a course.

Wednesday October 15, 1997

Today we went to Magic Kingdom again and did some of the things we didn't do. Like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Timekeeper, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Diamond Horseshoe Revue, Jungle Cruise, Liberty Belle Riverboat, Hall of Presidents, and The Haunted Mansion.

Thursday October 16,1997

Today for breakfast I went to the food court and had two Sausage Biscuits, and a chocolate milk.

After breakfast I went to a learning adventure at the Kids Station. At the Kids Station they had Sega Saturn's, a Sega, a Super Nintendo, and a pool table.

Once we got started we went to the swamp part of Disney World and looked at some alligators and birds in the wild.

Then we came back and played with the Sega Saturn's and the rest of the systems.

Then I went to something called Art Surround. At the Art surround we went to EPCOT and looked at some stuff.

Friday October 17, 1997

Today we went to EPCOT again and saw some of the things we didn't see. Like the show Circle of life. This show is about how humans got out of touch with the Circle of Life, and how they are trying to get back in touch with the Circle of Life.

We also did Body Wars. Body Wars is a ride where you go into the body and you are the size of a blood cell. Your mission is to receive a worker from inside the body and some things go wrong.

We also did `How I was Made'. `How I was Made' is a movie about how a human is made. We did something called the Living Seas. There we got to look at fish. We also got to look at sharks.

We also did something called The Land. The land was a ride about electricity and how our galaxy was made. It was also about the many energy sources we have and how we are looking for new energy sources. (Mom's note: The ride he described was actually Ellen's Energy Adventure. We did, however see The Land about alternative ways of growing plants)

Saturday October 18, 1997

Today we went to Typhoon Lagoon.

At Typhoon Lagoon they have the worlds largest wave pool. Their wave pool makes a big wave about every 2 minutes. The tidal waves it makes are about 6 feet waves ( not including the water that is already there). After the big title wave passes some smaller waves occur. We also did some of the ride Runaway Creek.

We also did Shark Reef. At Shark Reef you snorkel across a small reef with Sharks and Sting Rays.

For dinner we went to the Boardwalk and had some Lobster

Sunday October 19, 1997

Today we went to MGM Studios again and did some of the stuff we didn't do. Like the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular (show pictures). There we saw some of the stunts they used in Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark. We also did the Backlot Studio Tour. This ride also included Catastrophe Canyon. On this ride you go through a tour of MGM Studios and look at some things. The part Catastrophe Canyon is where you are in a canyon and some water towers explode and a lot of water comes down on you. But really the whole thing is controlled by high water pressure tanks and a lot of water. We also did Voyage of the Little Mermaid. This was a show about the Little Mermaid.
