Ease of WDW Park Access:

Via car, the hotel is within minutes of all of the theme
parks. However, you do not get the complimentary parking that you
get when staying at a Disney owned hotel.
Buses run from the hotel to all parks, including Pleasure Island.
However, I think that the buses to the MK stop at the TTC. We did
not have to wait long for the buses. I think the posted schedule
is every 20 minutes. The buses are complimentary.

Accommodations Review:

I had a pretty poor image of Travelodge prior to our
stay. I was expecting something less than a Holiday Inn. However,
this hotel was a pleasant surprise. The hotel rooms were more on the
par of a Disney deluxe hotel and included the following: 2 queen beds
(or king), hair dryer, coffee maker with coffee, 2 sinks in the bathroom,
complimentary morning paper, balcony with a table and two chairs (our
view was of the EPCOT ball). |
Rate/Night (for your stay):
|
$85 + tax (AAA rate). I have reservations for 3/99 at
the AAA rate of $95 + tax. Note: Disney CRO cannot give you the AAA
rate. You either have to call the hotel directly or go through the
Travelodge toll free number (1-800-578-7878). Without AAA, I was quoted
a rate of $109 + tax for 3/99. |
# of Restaurants/Lounges:
|
2 restaurants (we did not try either one); 2 lounges.
One lounge is on the top floor of the hotel and has a beautiful view.
During our stay in 1992, they were offering many drink specials, including
free drinks for ladies. |
Restaurant/Lounge Review:
|
We only tried the lounge on the top floor of the hotel,
Toppers. It has a lovely view of the area and offered many drink specials
in 1992. We did not eat a meal at the hotel. |
Activities/Facilities Available:
|
Sundries shop, heated pool, children’s playground, video
arcade, Disney cable channel in all rooms. We did not use the pool,
as it was late Nov. during our stay. We did not have children then,
so did not have an opportunity to check out the playground or arcade
either. |
Pool Description/Comments:
|
Did not use, as it was late Nov. during our stay. |
Amenities Provided:
|
Hairdryer, Towels/Supplies, Coffee maker with coffee,
Laundry, complimentary morning paper delivered to room, Pool, Babysitting,
playground, Room Service (until midnight), Cable TV with Disney channel,
Non-Smoking Rooms Available, Smoke Detectors. |

We booked this hotel primarily due to its price for
a weekend at WDW with friends visiting from out of town. We were not
expecting much, but boy were we surprised. The rooms are like those
of a Disney deluxe hotel and include a balcony. We had a lovely view
of the EPCOT ball!! If it is a choice between the Disney All Stars
or Travelodge, we choose the Travelodge. We are booked again for 3/99,
when other friends will be visiting from out of town. This is peak
season at the Disney hotels and the rates at the moderate hotels were
$149 + tax and the All Stars was $94 + tax. No MKC discounts are available
at this time and as of yet, no passholder’s specials are in effect.
Well, the choice was to squeeze ourselves (2 adults and 2 children)
into an All Stars room or stay in the spacious rooms at the Travelodge.
We choose the Travelodge hands down. Of course, we live in FL, so
we will have our car and will not have to rely on the bus transportation,
which might make a difference to some. Early entry privileges also
do not apply, but that does not make a big difference to us. Also,
CRO told me that they cannot book packages at the Village hotels because
they are not owned by Disney, but I’m sure any travel agent could
book a package here if you desired one. |
