Accommodations Review:

Nice large rooms. We had a queen bed, a single size sleeper sofa,
a nice sized table for four, and a large porch with two more chairs
and a small table. There was plenty of room to stow all of our clothes,
an in-room safe ($1 per day for use), a TV (with limited channels),
and a coffee maker (coffee supplied for free). There was no dedicated
line in the room, so we just disconnected the phone for online access. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
We had never stayed on property before, and the rates were too good
to pass up for the length of our stay. This is a former Disney-run
resort, so although the theming isn't as obvious, it's still there
in some ways, like one of the pools in the shape of a Mickey head. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
Room# 383, Third floor, facing the Palm golf course. Closer to the
family pool than the adult pool. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
For us, this was the perfect location. We wanted the view of the
golf course and we were not near a pool and the noise that can come
from the pool areas. The room was a pretty far walk from the parking
lot, but we didn't mind that. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
Very easy and smooth on both ends. We were able to do the express
check-out, and a copy of our bill was in our room by 5:30am on the
day of our check-out. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Did not use the SoG or WDW transportation much. We had a rental
car and used it to get everywhere we wanted except the Magic Kingdom.
For that, we walked over to the Polynesian and took the monorail.
The walk took just about 10 minutes from our room. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
Both were poor quality in my opinion. We ate at the sports bar,
Evergreens, twice and the Garden Grill once. Evergreens menu is limited,
and you have to share the restaurant with golfers using it as the
clubhouse after a round of golf. The food wasn't great. We ate a buffet
dinner at the Garden Grill because prime rib was featured. The prime
rib was totally overcooked. The only choice we had was well-done,
and we like medium rare, so we were very disappointed. But the bourbon
chicken on the buffet was wonderful. We never tried breakfast at the
Garden Grill, which is the only restaurant open in the morning. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
We did not use either pool at the resort, but they do have one for
families and children that is shaped like Mickey's head, and another
primarily for adults in another area of the resort. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This
Resort?
|
Book early, as soon as you know you are planning a trip to WDW.
This is our third trip to the World, but our first stay there because
they were always full. But ask about overflow rates to other WDW resorts
if they are full. They won't volunteer that info. |
Other Comments:
|
We stayed there for 13 nights and we were very happy. The price
is great, you are close to the parks, and the rooms are huge. The
only negative would be the food in the restaurants. We brought our
own food for breakfasts and some lunches, but ate out for all other
meals somewhere else on property. The staff is friendly and we enjoyed
the experience. Just be aware that we were there for the National
Golf Classic (October 18-21), which turned the resort into a huge
golf town and was a little unbearable for those couple of days. But
otherwise, the place is quiet and easy to get to. And we always felt
very safe there, the security was very good throughout our stay. |
