This is truly one of the most magnificent hotels I have ever stayed
at. This hotel is themed perfectly down to the last detail. The architecture
is dramatic, in fact the view from the lobby is positively breathtaking!
We arrived very late at night and the place was practically deserted.
When we checked in, the King bed room we requested was not available.
They upgraded us to a deluxe room on the spot for no extra charge.
The location of our room was perfect. 5th floor facing the main savannah.
I would definitely try to get as high up as possible for the best
view. We saw just about every kind of animal from our balcony. A herd
of Zebra slept right in front of our room every night! DO NOT STAY
ANYWHERE ELSE. Animal Kingdom Lodge is truly an amazing experience.
There seem to be less children here and the resort seems a little
quieter than others we have stayed in. Our room was a good distance
from the lobby and very well sound proofed. The deluxe room had a
double sink, nice touch, and plenty of room for my wife and I to relax.
The staff was very nice and it was wonderful to have so many cast
members from African countries. They were really approachable and
interesting to talk with. The fire pit outside was a great place to
relax and listen to stories. The fire pit inside was a welcome place
to unwind at the end of a long day. I cannot say it enough. After
staying here I will never stay anywhere else in WDW. It is worth the
$. |

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

Wow. We ate at both Boma and Jiko. Very different experiences but
both good. Boma is a buffet restaurant. On occasion the people factor,
noise and crowds, was a little tough to take. The food however was
great. Each night they would vary the selections and there were many
wonderful flavors, though aficionados of middle eastern and Indian
cuisine won't be knocked out. If variety is what you like, this is
the place. Great big breakfasts as well, perfect for fueling up for
a long day in the parks. The price at Boma was pretty reasonable.
Breakfasts were $15 or so a piece. One morning we went to Mara and
it was almost the same amount before we were done. Mara is I think
way over priced. Jiko was an exceptional dining experience, and compared
to other WDW eateries, especially in Epcot, not too expensive. We
dropped about $110 for 2 including appetizers, and desert. Great fresh
fish and I had the Lamb shank which was so tender the meat just fell
off the bone. Ron the waiter was extremely attentive. I asked what
he would recommend for wine and he actually brought out 3 glasses
and 3 different bottles. He poured a taste of each one, let me try
them and told me about each one! I have never had that happen before
anywhere. |
