Animal Kingdom Lodge

Rate / Night (for your stay):

$210

Date(s) of Stay:

May 14- May 18, 2001

Accommodation Used:

Standard Room / Studio

Accommodations Review:

Requested a king bed but had to settle with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. Very nice hand-carved furniture and African theme throughout the room.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

Husband and I planned an anniversary trip with an offsite hotel but could not pass up the intro rate to stay at the lodge.

Room # and Location Description:

Room #2505 on the Zebra trail with a savannah view facing Arusha Rock.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

Perfect room location. Not far from an elevator, excellent view of the savannah, and just a short walk to the lobby.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

Arrived at exactly 3pm for check-in and had no wait. Express check-out lets you leave without going back to the front desk.

WDW Transportation Comments:

The wait at the bus stops was not long. Did not have long wait at the theme parks for a bus to return to the lodge.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

The dinner buffet at Boma was OK but a little to exotic for me. For quick meals, Mara was OK but it did not have the variety of the food courts at the other resorts.

Pool Description / Comments:

Awesome pool with a waterslide. There are two Jacuzzis.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

This is a beautiful resort. From the decor to the service, it is a great place to stay at least once.

Other Comments:

The intro rate was a good reason to try out this resort but I will probably not stay here at the regular Deluxe resort rates. I thought there would be more animals on the savannahs but we only saw a few giraffes and zebras. The last two days there were only three Ankole cattle (dubbed "The 3 Stooges") that stayed in one spot. You can see more animals on the Kilamanjaro safaris.
