Date(s) of Stay:

Standard Room / Studio

Accommodations Review:

We had a deluxe savannah view room which is a bit bigger than the standard room. It had a Queen bed, bunk beds and a day bed and though crowded looking we were never in each others way. Full size adult (me) slept in the top bunk comfortably. The decor was wonderful and fit perfectly. My favorite interior room decor at a Disney Hotel.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

Wanted to try it out and see if it would live up to the hype.

Room # and Location Description:

#5595 was at the BACK of the hotel but we were on the top floor in one of the rounded hut balconies which gave lots more room for all four of us to be animal watching at the same time and also gave a more exotic feel too.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

The room was a long way from the lobby but wasn't a problem. It was quieter back there and though the savannah was smaller right at our room the animals came close. We could also see the back part of the Arusha and Uzima savannas.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

Check in was fast. No one was waiting.

WDW Transportation Comments:

We waited for the Epcot bus for 40 minutes and got into the park after opening. I drove the car the other morning. I would not make a sweeping determination of the transportation here on one stay.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

Boma was an interesting dinner buffet. Some of the exotic food was good and some was not to my liking. Over all though we were stuffed and the desert buffet is great. The food at Mara was decent but not memorable.

Pool Description / Comments:

The pool area is pretty and nice and the color of the pool adds to the exotic feel. It seems like it should have been a bit more fantastic considering the other pools recently built. It is a very pleasant area.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

Give it a try. It has some beautiful areas to spend some time. We spent a lot of time on our balcony watching animals. At one point we had all 6 giraffes below us with some other animals hanging out to. The Wildebeest went wild one early evening and were running all over just like in the movies!

Other Comments:

The hotel is supposedly authentic looking and to me was less architecturally interesting on the exterior. The lobby is wonderful as is most of the rest of the interior and savannah areas. Later in the week though we walked into the Wilderness lodge and all agreed that the Animal Kingdom Lodge did not surpass that front exterior or lobby.
