The room and resort really live up to the "deluxe" category. Everything
about the lodge was pretty outstanding in look, feel, comfort, and
service. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
We wanted to check it out since it had just opened! |
Room # and Location Description:
|
Don't remember the room offhand but it was overlooking the right
savannah, on the third floor. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
Pros of staying on the third floor are definitely good, there are
no stairs or elevators to take (the lobby is situated on the 3rd floor),
and it is at a very nice height to see the animals on the savannah
while not feeling too far above the action. The cons would be that
the center savannah (the one with the outdoor viewing area) is the
one that seems to have more animal activity. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
As speedy as it can get. Our CM was very friendly and only became
serious in tone when giving us the rules about the treatment of animals
(you get the boot if you throw anything into the savannah, etc.) |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Didn't really use it, but the bus system is right outside the front
door. People feel that this resort isn't convenient enough to the
parks to charge deluxe rates. They may be right about the convenience
factor, but this is a truly deluxe resort in every way. Many aspects
of it outshine the other deluxes, so transportation could easily be
overlooked, especially if you aren't die-hard daily park goers. It
seemed as though there were very frequent buses. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We ate at Boma, the open air market restaurant, and found it to
be the best meal we've had in all of WDW (and we've had a a lot of
them!). The CMs were all SO friendly and helpful, and the food was
out of this world. Something for everyone, since there is a broad
range of tastes. I can't wait to go back! I recommended the restaurant
to some friends and they actually phoned me during their meal to rave
about it and thank me for the suggestion. It's pretty good.. :-) Hope
to try Jiko next time. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
Pool is sort of underplayed, which may be a good thing. It's attractive
enough and has a slide for kids, as well as adjacent Lion King playgrounds. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This
Resort?
|
Give it a try. The moment we walked into our room there were giraffe
nibbling on the trees outside our window--which made the whole trip
worthwhile to me. The food is amazing, and the hotel is tucked away
on the far end of the resort so it really gives you that secluded
feeling. You can easily spend a half-day just sampling what the resort
has to offer--animals, storytelling, dining, shopping, and even some
CM entertainment! If you don't mind taking the bus system to your
parks or driving your own car, then I say this is the best deluxe
resort on property. |
Other Comments:
|
You can easily request a certain floor and a certain savannah--my
suggestion is a third floor room overlooking the center savannah (can't
remember the savannah names, either). But all of them have beautiful
views. |
