Accommodations Review:

We loved this resort! The way the individual buildings are set around
a lake is beautiful, particularly at night, when the lights from the
buildings reflect off the water. The rooms were nice, although queen
size beds would have been more comfortable, since we had four people. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
My husband was attending a convention at Coronado Springs. We took
our two children, ages 14 & 15 with us to enjoy Walt Disney World.
It was the first time we have stayed in a Disney Resort. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
Building 9B, room # 9607 on the second floor |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
The building location was wonderful! This is in the "Cabanas" area,
and near the convention center. My daughter loved the white sand next
to the lake, and the hammocks to lie in. I had good luck calling in
advance and requesting this building, then confirming my request 5
days before we came. As other people had told us, they won't guarantee
a room, but they do try to accommodate requests. You might want to
ask for a room on the first floor (ours was on the second floor) for
convenience. This location was very convenient to Bus Stop #1, which
is near where you check in. It also faces the main lake, which made
for a beautiful view. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
Check in was very easy, we arrived around 6:00 p.m. and there were
no lines. The man who checked us in was helpful and we were delighted
to get the room we had requested. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
We used the bus system, and it worked very well for our family.
After we felt that our teens were familiar with the system, they could
ride on their own and go where they wanted to. We have used our own
car at Disney World before, but we much preferred using the bus system.
Our average wait time was around ten minutes for a bus. You do need
to keep in mind that sometimes the buses go to several locations before
they reach your destination, so plan that into your schedule. It also
helps to ask the attendants at the bus stops (only available at some
of the stops) for assistance if you want to know straightest route
from point A to point B. Depending where you are going, sometimes
a unusual route will be the fastest. Be sure and ask them if you need
assistance. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We were worried before we went to Coronado Springs that the food
choices would be limited and it would be very crowded. Although from
what I understand the resort was full, we didn't have any problem
getting food when we wanted it, with very little wait. I can only
talk about eating at the "Pepper Market", because that was where we
ate when we were at the resort. The kids and I LOVED the Pepper Market.
The name gives you the impression that they only serve Mexican food,
but actually this area has many different food offerings. They even
have baskets of fresh, whole fruit out, where you can just grab an
apple or an orange. Each of us got a ticket, and then picked out what
we wanted. You eat first, and then pay when you leave the market. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
This resort has five pools. There are three "quiet" pools -- which
are very much like pools you would find at a regular hotel. You need
to take towels from your room to use those. The "feature" pool is
huge, and has towels available for free. You just put them into "Towel
Return" bins when you are done. The feature pool has a nice slide,
and food is available there until about 8:00 p.m. You can get hamburgers,
drinks, etc. My kids said the pool was one of their favorite things
about our whole trip |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This
Resort?
|
My first suggestion would be to try to get into building 9B or request
a room near the main convention center. This is a huge resort, and
some of the rooms are a very long walk from the main buildings. Be
sure to get a map of the layout to look at, so you get a feel for
the resort before you go. If you have children who like to rollerblade,
have them bring their skates. If your children have a scooter, that
can be helpful to get from one place to another. We saw several scooters
while we were there. Even though the rooms closest to the main building
are not right next to the feature pool, we preferred walking to the
pool. There is a nice bridge across the lake that can be easily used
to get from Building 9B over to the feature pool. |

If you have children, they might enjoy renting a "Water Mouse" power
boat from the marina. You can do this for about $20.00 for 1/2 hour.
Children over 12 can run their own boats. There is a lifeguard in
another boat that keeps an eye on everyone out on the lake. They also
have paddle boats and bikes for rent. Check out the "Pepper Market"
as soon as you get there. It's a lot of fun. I have more information
that I would be glad to share if you want to e-mail me. My address
is Lendal@aol.com and I would
be glad to answer specific questions. The only other comment I have
is wear really comfortable shoes and take care of potential blisters
immediately. This resort has a nice gift shop and sells moleskin,
etc. for blisters. Also, if you want to you can rent a refrigerator
for $10.00 a night. They are the little, bitty fridges, but they will
hold a few quart size containers of milk - enough for breakfast cereal.
This is a really nice resort - we loved it and will probably stay
there next time we go to Disney World. |
