As with any Disney Hotel (as I've stayed with plenty of them)
the service was very good, the rooms very clean, and the amenities
for a moderate resort very nice. We stayed in the Casitas Buildings
in the first section, Casita 1. We were very excited about this
as the registration desk told us our building was closest to El
Centro, where the Pepper Market and Maya Grill are stationed.
Well.... what we learned about this hotel are the following: Get
a lagoon or garden view room, the standard rooms are on the "other"
side of the buildings, and walking distance to the buses can be
long, and somewhat confusing in this particular hotel. Also, in
Casitas 1, if you want the quickest sprint to the main building,
request room numbers with the highest last two digits; Rooms 1288,
and 1375 are much closer than 1210 or 1109. In Casitas 1, the
walk to the main pool is a long one, and a hot one. We tried walking
in bare feet, and that was a huge mistake. There are "quiet" pools
closer to each section, and they are just as nice, and a lot less
crowded. I took advantage of the spa and health club, and enjoyed
a full body rub during my trip. Being a frequent visitor to WDW,
I thought spas were at the Institute, and the Grand Floridian,
but they have one at Coronado, and it was just was wonderful as
my appointments to the Institute. When booking this hotel, remember
that at the end of a day at WDW, most people are bushed and ready
for bed, and there is a huge lake in the middle of the ground
plan here. That means more walking in circles to get to your room.
I strongly suggest booking closer to El Centro, and using your
walking feet to get to the pool, and not getting to your room
at then end of a very long day. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
I had stayed here years ago while on business. They have a Convention
Center here as well. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
Casita #1 1310. All around at the back. But very nice. We had
a corner room with two windows. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
Pros: Close to the main building. Cons: Easy to lose your way
while navigating through there odd landscaping designs. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
Easy and easy. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Wonderful. There are always available. Remember through, if
you board the buses in the early afternoon (like going back to
the parks after lunch or a nap), they sometimes run local and
not express. Although they say no eating or drinking on the bus,
I always bring a drink and the paper for the short rides, and
they never reprimand. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We didn't eat at The Maya Grill, but we ate at The Pepper Market.
It was good. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
The main pool was fun. The quiet pools even nicer. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering
This Resort?
