Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
We wanted to stay at Disney World, and this way it was very economical. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
We stayed in the 900 Loop in the campground. The campsites are clean,
level, not crowded together but have trees and bushes and space between
them. Our loop had nice tall pine trees with little gray squirrels
flitting about in them. The comfort station was clean and air conditioned,
and included a coin laundry and telephone. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
This was a great loop, because it is located directly across from
the Meadows Trading Post, the Bike Barn and the pool. There is a sheltered
bus stop right out front. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
We charged our entire stay on checking in, and didn't have any check-out
to worry about. An envelope with our check-out receipt was placed
on our car window the morning we checked out. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
We usually didn't have to wait long for a bus, and it was fairly
easy to get used to the system. We learned that there are two bus
routes through the campground, the Crockett and the Boone. The Crockett
was the one we wanted, because it stopped at our loop at the beginning
of its route on returning to the campground from the Transportation
Center. We had to learn to allow enough time for bus travel; we had
to take three buses to get as far as Disney's Boardwalk, and that
took the better part of an hour. But it is worth not having to drive
and park your car. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We ate our meals at other resorts and in the parks, mainly. Most
mornings, though, we ate breakfast in our camper before heading out.
We did stop at the tavern one night, and it was nice. Later we walked
along the beach at the marina, which after 11 p.m. was absolutely
deserted and very pretty. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
The pool at the Meadows Trading post area is a basic, un-themed
pool, larger than Olympic sized, and heated. We went in for a dip
late at night and had it almost all to ourselves; there were about
six other people there. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This
Resort?
|
1) Buy your groceries before you arrive, especially if you want
things like fruits and vegetables. The Meadows Trading Post has some
items, but they are limited in selection and are more expensive. But
you can get a morning paper there, mail letters, and buy Disney souvenirs.
2) remember to close your windows or zip up your tent flaps before
you leave, even if the day seems like it could never turn rainy! Believe
me, in Florida the late afternoon the rains will often come through
while you are away enjoying the parks, and you might come back to
a soggy bed! 3) Don't hesitate to ask the bus drivers how to get places,
or to tell them which loop you want to get to. Once, just because
we'd told a driver we wanted to go to the Animal Kingdom, he pointed
out a bus that was just pulling up at the Settlement Post that would
take us directly there without switching buses at the Transportation
Center. It was a nice shortcut that saved us some time. 4) Bring your
own laundry detergent and plenty of quarters if you plan to do laundry.
Boxes of detergent are $1.00 each, and the washers and dryers cost
$2.00 for each load! |

This is the best-run campground I've ever stayed at, and I've been
camping around the United States since 1975! Well worth the price. |
