Accommodations Review:
|
Our cabin was really nice. It was not luxurious, but it was
clean and "roomy." The cabins have one main room with the kitchen,
dining area and living room. There is one hall bath and one bedroom
with a double bed and a set of bunk beds. Also worth noting is
that there is a Murphy bed in the living room. The kitchen has
very basic cooking utensils. Some of the dishes had been broken
and never replaced. This was an issue for us since we had 6 people
in the cabin, 4 coffee cups and 5 dinner plates. We also had a
problem with ants if food was left on the counter. That said,
the cabin was very relaxing. From the bedroom window, we could
see nothing but woods surrounding our cabin. Very private and
very quiet. We heard nothing at night. This is a great place to
stay to get out of the mass chaos of the parks and to have peace
and quiet. Good housekeeping-they even do the dishes! Lots of
towels. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
We have two small kids ages 3 and 5 who need naps and go to
bed early. We wanted a separate room where we could put the kids
to bed and enjoy some adult time together. This was much less
expensive than the villa accommodations. FW also has a lot of
stuff for the kids. We did the campfire-sing-a-long and petting
zoo. There is a lot of room for them to run and play here, too. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
We were in cabin 2613 Peacock Pass. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
It was a great location - close to the pool, bus stop but far
enough away that we didn't hear noise from either. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
Check in was easy - no delays and we used express check out. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Here is a draw back. FW is VERY large and in many cases you
have to take an internal bus to get somewhere (pool, dining hall,
etc.). We rented a golf cart for $40/day and we were glad we did.
In many cases, you had to board two shuttles to get to one place.
That also means WAITING for two shuttles. I am not a patient person
and with two small kids, strollers, etc. this extra time waiting
is a pain. For ex., to get to MK< board the internal bus to
get to the marina and then board the boat. To get to other locations,
take the bus to the TTC and then another to your destination.
When we wanted to go to the MK, got on our cart and went straight
to the marina. More importantly, when we returned from an exhausting
day, we got off the bus and went directly home on our cart. We
did not have to wait on another bus. For MGM, EPCOT and AK, we
drove our van. This was ok because, once again, when you return
home, you drive right to your front door. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
The only place we could find to eat was Pioneer Hall. This was
a buffet that was ok food and price wise. Crockett's Tavern is
basically a bar. They do advertise another location for deli sandwiches
but it is basically pre-packaged sandwiches in a refrigerator.
One complaint here is that we had to wait for the restaurant to
open for lunch. We were hungry at 11:00 and wanted to eat and
get to a park - too bad. The refillable mugs were also a waste
because we couldn't use them in the restaurant and had difficulty
finding a place to refill them. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
The main pool was crowded and small for this size of a resort.
The other pool is for the Cabins and it is the size of an apartment
pool. There is no themeing or slides - a let down after staying
at the WL and PO. We also had difficulty finding a life jacket
for our three year old. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering
This Resort?
|
1. If you don't like waiting, rent a golf cart. 2. If you do
not rent a cart, request to be near a bus stop and pool. 3. Go
to River Country. FW guests get a discount and it was one of the
highlights of our trip. I liked it better for the kids than the
other water parks and it was much less crowded! |
Other Comments:
|
I have mixed feelings about FW. The cabin itself was great.
It was so relaxing and quiet and private. The bedroom was wonderful
and the kids slept better in bunk beds. Having stayed at other
WDW resorts, I missed the easy accessibility to other recreational
activities and other perks. The pool was a disappointment. I would
stay here again, but will seriously consider other options first.
