The room was great! It was newly renovated and had a perfect
view of Cinderella's Castle. The room was immaculate. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
I had heard a lot of things about the Grand Floridian and thought
it would be great to try out for this short trip. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
Room #5343 Sago Cay The building was a very short walk from
the main building. It was also very close to the Marina and Gasparilla
Grill. (convenient when using refillable mugs or grabbing a quick
bite to eat) |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
The best thing about the room was the view. It just doesn't
get any more magical than falling asleep at night with Cinderella's
castle changing colors right before your eyes!! |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
We didn't get into Orlando until after 5:00 pm so our room was
ready and check-in was a breeze. I made sure everything was taken
care of the night before our check-out so that was a cinch too. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Being on the monorail made it very easy traveling between the
"Monorail resorts' , the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. The bus system
also worked well. The only "problem" we encountered as far as
transportation was trying to get a bus to Typhoon Lagoon. I was
unaware there wasn't a direct bus to TL and after waiting at the
bus stop for quite some time , was finally informed of this by
a WDW bus driver. We had to take the monorail to the TTC and then
catch a bus to Typhoon Lagoon. It was a very hot day and this
took us very long. Because the Grand Floridian is "Disney's Flagship
Resort", I feel they should provide their guests with direct transportation
to all of the Disney parks - especially at those prices--lol) |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We weren't able to eat at all of he grand Floridian's restaurant
because we had many other priority seating arrangements but we
did try the Grand Floridian Cafe. It was wonderful!! The atmosphere
was light and airy and the food a service were terrific!! We also
grabbed snacks and drinks at Gasparilla Grill and it was very
nice. It was always clean and had a nice selection. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
The pool was very nice but basic. If I would have had my kids
along, they would have missed the water slides offered by other
Disney resorts. It's also nice when resorts (ex. The Boardwalk)
have both "fun" pools and quiet pools. That would have been a
nice tough to have had at the Floridian. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering
This Resort?
|
If you have the chance to stay at the Grand Floridian, I say
"go for it"! It was a beautiful resort with many amenities. Try
to book a lagoon view room and then request a Magic Kingdom view.
It made my vacation even more special! |
Other Comments:
|
I have heard many comments about the Grand Floridian being stuffy
but I did not get that feeling at all. The lobby is very glamorous
looking but you see the same t-shirt and shorts look that you
find at every other Disney resort. |
