Accommodations Review:
|
After a room change to Magnolia Bend we found our room to be quite
comfortable and quiet though a bit smaller than the room at Caribbean
Beach. Disney could go a little bit lighter on the perfume smell that
is pumped into the room from the AC unit! |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
Caribbean Beach was unavailable. We decided to try something new.
We were bring our then 3.5 year old for the first time and literature
showed what looked like a great pool and playground for kids.
|
Room # and Location Description:
|
Originally in the bayou section. This was entirely too far from
the main pool and food especially for a 3 year old to walk, or worse
be carried! It was even a long to the nearest quiet pool. Additionally
our room had a horrible odor. After trekking back to 'check in' we
were upgraded to a room in Magnolia Bend overlooking a quiet pool.
We only paid for a standard view which is considerable less expensive
than a water view. Note that the water view hardly justifies the extra
cost of the room...if you had to pay for it. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
Bayou: in the middle of no where! Great for seclusion but little
else.
Magnolia Bend: great quite pool location, only a short walk to
the playground, pool and food. Bus stops were a bit farther than
Caribbean Beach.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
Slow check for the off season, however we did get into our original
room 2 hours early (1pm) Unfortunately by the time we switched rooms
and settled in , almost 3 hours were wasted...and it had started to
rain!
The CM was apologetic and polite. Check out was effortless.

WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Transportation was either very bad this one week or has simply gotten
bad.
We visited and stayed at numerous WDW hotels from 1989 - 1995 including
the Grovesnor, what was Howard Johnson's and at Caribbean Beach
the last 3 visits. Bus service at these resorts was always
every 15 minutes.
It lagged a bit at Dixie. Dixie busses also stopped at Port Orleans
many times thus adding to the time of the trips. Service from MGM
was horrible...all other hotel patrons were gone while there were
still 3 bus loads of people awaiting transportation to Dixie.
Busses were generally full at night with standing room only - this
was never the case in our other off season visits. Bus drivers were
not nearly as friendly as usual and many did not seam to speak or
English.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
Good Food and Drinks at the resort. Buy a refillable mug!
Purchase milk/juice in the Gift Shop across from the food court....it's
cheaper for some reason!
Another plus (for adults and kids) is HUGE Lego table located in
the food court. Kids love it and it does keep the kids off in one
part of the food court allowing adults without children to relax
elsewhere. On the down side, the CMs here were far less friendly
than past visits and had a hard time speaking/understanding English.
|
Pool Description / Comments:
|
Good Clean Pools, heated, not very crowded that time of year.
Ol' Man Island was great for our son. Not too crowded for adults this
time of year either. Also located right by the playground which is
the best we've seen to date at Disney. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This
Resort?
|
It is a beautiful and quiet resort, with good food, great pools,
a wonderful playground should you have children. Just be sure to stay
in or around the Magnolia Bend section. be prepared for perhaps longer
than usual bus trips. Be prepared for MANY CMs who do not speak English
- especially in the Food Court area. |
