Accommodations Review:

The rooms were clean. Nicely decorated. Big t.v. in a cabinet. Small table and two chairs. Two sinks. Fun "Br'er Rabbit/Br'er Bear" shower curtain. We had the room with a trundle bed. It was a life saver. Didn't have to sleep with a tired, tossing child for seven nights. It is a small trundle; my 8 year old fit on it well, but wouldn't recommend it for anyone bigger than that. Our housekeeper, Milka, did a great job of preparing the room. She even lined up my daughter's stuffed animals so they'd look out the window at us when we returned each night.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

Loved the theme of the place. Was a nice, low key get-a-way from the bustle of the parks. Kids liked the Ol' Man Island swimming area. Water slide not too scary. Lifeguards present from morning till 9 p.m. Food court handy. Had water shuttle to Downtown Disney. Bus service very convenient. Had bikes, surreys and motor boats for rent.

Room # and Location Description:

We were out in building 26 the first night. I read the reviews here and asked to be moved to building 14. We stayed in 1458 for six nights.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

I preferred being closer to the "front". You could get to the food court, store, bus stop and pool easily. There are several bus stops for the property. The bus does stop at the Port Orleans French Quarter first, then it stops by the front of the Riverside hotel. If it is too full (which can happen) it leaves the property. The other three stops have to wait for another bus. The room was not an end room like our first one. The "end" rooms have two windows which is nice. Our room and location were on the second floor. Near ice and vending machines.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

We came in around mid-night. There were two clerks for about 5 people checking in. They were nice, but very slow. Check out time was 11:00 a.m. The bell man came and took our bags and held them for us until we were ready to leave. I took care of my bill the night before when there wasn't a line. Be sure to have your info re: reservations handy. There was a security guard at the front who asked to see it before she'd let us in. (After that, you use your hotel card.)

WDW Transportation Comments:

See above regarding route. They were very clean. Prompt. Reliable. The bus to the Magic Kingdom drops you off right in front of the MK. (In the past you had to go to the Transportation and Ticket Center then take the Monorail or Ferry to MK. Each hotel/property has its own numbered bus stop. Our was 9 and it was the farthest walk from the exit gates of each park.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

Boatwright's had good food, but was expensive. Food court had reasonable prices for Disney. Good selection. Lots of people bought the mugs. They are now $9.99. You get refills for free the rest of your stay. The refills do not include milk or juice. (Sodas, hot chocolate, tea, Hi-C lemonade etc.) We didn't stick around to use it that much.

Pool Description / Comments:

Ol' Man Island nice. Clean. Fun water slide. Polite Life Guards.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

I'd recommend it. Really liked every aspect of it.

Other Comments:

My son got an ear infection. I didn't have a rental car. The local urgent care center "Central Care" will drive out to the hotel, pick you up and take you to the clinic. It was out the gates by Downtown Disney. There was a pharmacy next door. They took us back and dropped us off at Epcot one day and at MGM another day. (We had to go twice!) Just ask the front desk if you're in need of medical care. They can get you in contact with them. They also accept insurance. Also, felt very safe in light of the September 11 attacks. Lots of security present. They checked everyone's bags before entering the parks. People seemed a little more polite then usual (nice change!). No trouble getting out of the Orlando airport. Even had skycaps for Delta airlines!
