Accommodations Review:

Very nice and clean. However, the beds were quite hard, which is not comfortable for us!

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

We had visited Port Orleans in the past and wanted to stay there, but they were full. This was a close second on our list to try.

Room # and Location Description:

Alligator Bayou Bldg #18, first floor. I can't remember the exact number. It was a standard room with 2 full- size beds, a table & chairs, TV-armoire, room for hanging clothes, and then sink/separate bathroom

Room Location Pros & Cons:

Building 18 was great, once we figured out the short path to the parking lot. There is a quiet pool right by the building, and our rooms were on the "River" side, so we had a very short walk to the food court and could see the river from our door. We were hoping for a corner room, but this was very nice.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

We had started our stay with a night at Port Orleans-- neither resort had room for us for our entire trip. The check-in at PO was great, but then the next day, we checked right in to DxL, but our luggage wasn't there yet. The bell service called PO who told them the bags were already at DxL. Finally, after about an hour, our bags showed up. We were very tired, and VERY disappointed in the baggage handling. We used the Express Check-Out service, so we never went back to the desk (my father-in-law LOVED this! He was very impressed by the efficiency of the WDW system.).

WDW Transportation Comments:

We were traveling with my husband's parents, who used the busses quite often. They really loved the ability to split up from us and go back to the room when they were tired.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

The food court is only average--and whose bright idea was it to only serve bagels, muffins, and donuts until 7 am? We couldn't get real food (eggs, etc.) until 7, and early entry was at 7:30, which didn't exactly leave much time to eat. We were VERY upset at this--the food court at PO has regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours, but ALL of breakfast is ready when they open for business in the morning! Boatwright's food is okay, but the service was lousy--WDW is either having trouble keeping staff, or they're not hiring enough because they're trying to save money. We won't be back.

Pool Description / Comments:

Ol' Man Island looked pretty, but was ALWAYS full of screaming kids. I swam in the quiet pool behind our building instead, and really enjoyed it.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

Check out a map--several buildings are a long, long walk to the food court or bus stops. Once you decide on a couple of choices, fax DxL directly with your requested building, room type, and so on.

Other Comments:

This was nice, but I like PO better. It's smaller, easier to get around in, and the food court was much better.
