Accommodations Review:

The room was lovely. It was large compared to the rooms at
Disneyland Paris or the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim. Very pleasantly
decorated and comfortable for my wife and I. The scenery with fountains
and rivers were beautiful and it was better themed than the other
moderate resorts. A friend once told me it was the closest resort
to a deluxe in it's range. He was right! The Christmas Decorations
were lovely and the staff were fabulous. Dave on check in sang to
us because we were on our honeymoon, and the maids put our wedding
mouse ears and lays (from the Polynesian Dinner Show) on the headboard
(real cute!) every time we went out. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
We were on our honeymoon, but we were at WDW for a week and had
a Cruise too. We wanted the feeling of a Deluxe resort, but we didn't
want to pay those prices. DL seemed to offer everything we wanted
and it did! |
Room # and Location Description:
|
Parterre Place (Can't remember the number). It was on the edge so
it was nice and quiet, but not too far from the communal facilities.
The fountain outside was lovely. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
Quiet, easy to drive in and out of, beautiful! Cons - a bit of walk
in the evening if you wanted a cup of coffee. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
Very Slick! |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
Lovely to go to Downtown Disney by Boat, particularly at sunset
(the wait can be long). It takes too long to go to the other resorts
by bus though (1.5 hours from Port Orleans Riverside to the Polynesian
and Contemporary!). We opted to drive most of the time. You feel like
a star when you flash your pass at the parking kiosks at the parks.
Its fun. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We only used the food court while staying. Most of the time it was
good value for money - particularly the refillable cups. The ribs,
rice and beans are good as is the pizza. Breakfast is traditional
Disney food court fare. One complaint was that they forgot to deliver
our pizza to our table. We got it an hour after ordering (but they
refunded it, so that was ok). You've got to catch the piano player
in the lounge, he's great! |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
Lovely decor of Ol' Man Isle, but we didn't have time to swim, we
wanted to make the most of our park time and the other parts of the
resort. |
What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This
Resort?
|
For an affordable (the length of stay passes and added perks of
package delivery, free parking etc. more than make up for the cost,
romantic and fun stay in WDW, stay at Dixie Landings. However, have
breakfast early (7:00) or late (10:00) to avoid the crowds. Also drive
around the resort if you can or allow plenty of time to get from one
place to another. |

It's wonderful, I can't wait to go back! I would have loved to stay
at the Wilderness Lodge, but I am no way disappointed with DL. You
can stay there and still eat and shop at other resorts, we did (California
Grill - Contemporary, Artist Point - Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk,
Polynesian Revue, O'hana - Polynesian, Narcoosee's - Grand Floridian
etc). The money you save will buy you those nice meals. |
